It is important to shed light on the fact that this topic is one of the
most important issues which attract the attention of many people all
over the world; because of its high impact on human life; so, I found
great pleasure in studying it deeply to discover all pros and cons and
how to develop it to enhance its most useful positives.
Because of the importance of this topic in life, I found that it’s
important to make more research on new parts of this Subject, and
this decision helped me to get a huge number of advantages and
useful applications.
Cycling will increase more in the coming years due to two recent
innovations. Bike-sharing has been around in various forms for
decades but is now growing at truly extraordinary rates. From the
first large-scale automated system in Lyon, France in 2005 (1,500
bicycles), bike share has expanded to 1,286 systems in the world as
of May 2017, with a total of 3,415,750 bicycles (Fishman, 2016;
Meddin, 2017) and in 2020 after the spread of the Coronavirus,
which gave an incentive to use bicycles for many benefits. Including
strengthening the body immunity and fun to go out with friends
without transmitting infection and others.
Bike-sharing greatly increases bicycle availability, steering
flexibility, and access to and from public transportation. Bicycle-
sharing systems are constantly evolving technologically, enabling
their future integration into comprehensive mobility packages,
including public transport, car-sharing, Careem, and Uber-like taxi
services, all of which provide alternatives to the private car.
Architecture has a main role in this subject for example Jung Tak Architect designed an
ingenious bike-sharing system, designed specifically for the city, focuses on the problem of
parking capacity in the urban environment where limited space is available. The minimal T-
Bikes are contained in vending machines, stations that can be easily relocated to popular areas
or even transported as a permanent installation on a truck for mobile delivery.
E-bikes provide a more competitive alternative to a private car, as
they are faster than mechanical bikes, making them easier to ride
longer distances. They also make cycling easier on hilly terrain and
heavy loads. E-bikes help cyclists, especially in urban areas with
many intersections, when they have to start over after waiting at
stop signs and traffic lights. Older adults and long-distance business
commuters may seem like the most likely customers of e-bikes.
However, experts in the Netherlands and Belgium emphasized the
growing popularity of e-bikes among all groups and for different
trekking purposes. To some extent, e-bikes are replacing mechanical
bikes, but they also open up new markets that never existed before,
causing people to ride bikes they've never seen before. Moreover,
studies show that e-bikes are more energy-efficient and less
polluting than motorcycles and cars; So, they contribute to overall
transportation sustainability.
Street design and management practice
should be turned upside down to
prioritize pedestrians, cyclists, and
transit users, followed by goods
movement shared services, and finally,
the private automobile.
we must Highlight the critical role that bicycles will play in the
coming years in easing traffic congestion and improving urban air
quality and public health, especially in cities as they become denser.
Overall, experts predict that the number of people who ride their
bikes to work will double in many major cities around the world by
2022.
