Advisory Board Meeting was called to order at 5:00 pm Paulding County High School

Minutes

● Chandler Cichosz gave an update on what is going on at PCHS with Future Business
Leaders BLA
● Tiffani Steljamin, spoke about how she was able to connect with a marketing firm to
create a logo to help PCHS and how her company is willing to help in other areas
● Chandler Cichosz spoke about how important it is for FBLA members to come up with
a plan, writing a script, and executing the plan in terms of preparing for competitive
● Wallace Hall spoke about the competitive events that PCHS is preparing for Region
Competitions. (Public Speaking, Web Design, Job Interviewing, Broadcast Video
Production)
● Chandler Cichosz spoke about how FBLA has partnered with Helping Hands of
Paulding County and students are using community service opportunities in other areas.
He also talked about other clubs he is involved in like Beta Club and Pulse, which is a
school leadership club selected by the teachers and administrators
● Deniz Glassberg Zoeller spoke about how she and her husband created a website
called Raiders News Network with the intention for a school wide social media platform,
where the students could use it, but right now, students aren’t aware of the website.
● Aisha Robinson, spoke looked for advice on how to recruit more members to join FBLA
● Chandler Cichosz responded by talking about field trips and food as two major
influences to get students to join FBLA.
● Michelle Stubbs talked about the new Career Center at Hiram, which is a one-stop
shop, where students can come in a talk to college and military recruiters, as opposed to
having them go to the cafeteria, and how they are looking for donations through writing
letters in order to purchase furniture
● Parent talked about IKEA does a lot of community involvement and their business model
is about supporting community efforts
● Karen Parker, spoke about Microsoft Certifications and the need for people from
industry to come and speak to students and the importance of getting those certifications
● Deniz Glassberg Zoeller, mentioned that students aren’t aware of the free Microsoft
Office Suite software that is available for all students attending a Paulding County
School
● Tiffani Steljamin, talked about how a lot of companies would test your knowledge in
Word and Excel during the interview process
● John Grant, spoke about soft skills and the important of making a good impression
(shaking hands, making eye contact, dressing for success, communicating effectively).
Most companies do not have time to teach soft skills. He mentioned that he has a family
member who work in admissions at Georgia and she expressed to him the lack of
students making eye contact and speaking loud and clearly when they are applying for
admission into college. He mentioned that his transition from business to the classroom
helps him coach students and help them gain confidence through soft skills

● Wendy Eidson, spoke about Six Flag is a great partner that will come out to schools
and do interviews on the spot. She has connections with people in HR and
merchandising from her experience working there for 17 years.
● Karen Parker, mentioned that our College and Career Fair would be a great opportunity
for Six Flags to come out and set up a booth
● John Grant, spoke about how his coaching and mentoring experiences at Kennesaw
State is useful in the classroom. Having students dig deeper to help students gain and
develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills
● Chandler Cichosz, said that his experience as a student at PCHS, every teacher is
teaching soft skills by greeting students and shaking hands of their students at the door
● Deniz Glassberg Zoeller, mentioned that in her experience as a parent of 8 children do
not necessarily seek opportunities or take advantage of the opportunities to develop soft
skills and other skills until they graduate, which is too late, and this is a problem. She
asked the question; how we get students to understand how important it is to prepare
yourselves for college and career.
● Wendy Eidson, spoke about how many of her students don’t get the connection in
middle school because they are so far removed from having a job
● John Grant, shared his experience of about how his coaching and mentoring
experiences at Kennesaw State is useful in the classroom. Having students dig deeper
to help students gain and develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills
● Michelle Stubbs talked about the importance of developing a relationship with the
students by finding out what their career goals are. She spoke about two of her own
students who have started their own business, how she and Mr. Grant are helping them
because the students are seeking their advice.
● Deniz Glassberg Zoeller, mentioned that we have to find ways to have students inspire
other students in terms of starting their own businesses. Finding ways to advertise and
promote the kids, which makes it cool because it is the kids who can be the most
exceptional leaders because they are in the same peer group.
● Chandler Cichosz, gave his own opinion on making classroom experiences fun through
competitions and other collaborative projects, which makes all students participate. This
is another way for students to share their experiences.
● John Grant, agreed and said that teachers should share their own life experience and
the importance of having business partners share their life experiences, because if you
don’t, the students look at you like you are fake. When teachers and business partners
share their experiences, students remember better.
● Wallace Hall and Michelle Stubbs, both talked about networking and building the
advisory boards through building relationships and networking.
