Changing a traditional mindset is pretty complex, considering these thoughts have been

rooted since the ancestors. That is why aside from spreading awareness with related organizations
within the country, I plan on strengthening the possibility of collaboration with countries such as
Norway and Finland that has the highest gender equality index for the past years. I wish to gain
the knowledge of forming a framework with those countries and under the Sexual Violence
Criminal Act Law Number 12 of 2022, building short-term and long-term programs that could
enhance women's human rights and justice in defending themselves from sexual offenders. Outside
the academic and my goal reasons, getting a master's degree would raise my parents' status as that
also becomes my biggest motivation. Being the oldest child and the first in the family to get a
bachelor's degree, I want to make them proud by making a difference and social impact within my
scope. Also, I wish to become a good example for my two little brothers that pursuing a higher
education will never be a disadvantage and a waste of time.
During my study in the International Relations major, I learned that discovering
development issues is a foundation for awareness of the environment. I studied an International
Development course that explained development is a process where it can be carried out in various
dimensions, not only from the infrastructure but also equality and the quality of human life. In
addition, even though there are visible results, that does not mean stopping the process such as
economic growth development and gender welfare. Related to the the global governance course
with Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO), the lecturer gave the team and I a project about
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Number 15 "Life on Land" fulfillment. As such, I came
up with an idea, to focus on the endangered Sumatran tiger instead of plant issues. Bringing unique
ideas to the table has been my strongest point, and as a result, in one attempt, the lecturer gave the
approval based on the SDGs Number 15 indicators. We conducted a socialization to spread
awareness to several schools in Padang. Through a proper presentation and diplomacy, we were
able to give over 30 children new insights about environmental issues around them. It was such a
delightful feeling, to see how the children were being enthusiastic about the issue.

The pandemic in 2021 made every internship application to be on hold. However, that does
not apply to the government sectors. With proper health protocols (mask, hand sanitizer, and
vaccine certificate), I was able to do a one-month internship in the Immigration Office Class I
Padang. This work is aligned with my goal where I want to be a part of government structure, and
I learned their work ethics, procedures, and basic knowledge in the office. I worked in the staffing
and the residence permit and status department. Both divisions gave me particular tasks, such as
handling official letters and acting as an interpreter to foreigners. It was a new experience for me
to know about the inside of government and bureaucracy. In 2023, due to some internal issues
resulting in financial problems in the company, I was working in my father's company PT Mitra
Agam Kerosindo, a gas agent business, to help re-building the foundation by organizing the crucial
work paper, went to a business trip to the Agam regency, and helped several delivery order
transactions. I became an assistant to assist the employee because there is only one employee or
admin, who works in the family's company. By working in the professional field, I gained the
ability to solve problems at once through research, professional insights, and empathy.

Outside the academics, I like to swim and do badminton sometimes as a stress reliever. Since
elementary school, my favorite activities have always been swimming competitions with friends
and occasionally booking a court to play badminton. To get the chance to play more badminton, I
became the person in charge of the badminton division, as part of the International Relations
Students Association (HIMASHI). In the course of my post-graduation, I signed up for N5 and N4
Japanese language online lessons and a 2-month IELTS online preparation class. For the past 3
months, it was pretty challenging to time management and understand the given modules and
homework. However, after the hecticness, I was able to adjust the task order and got a decent score
on the final test in both classes.

Other than that, pursuing a master's is what I consider the first step in becoming a diplomat,
focusing on reducing violence against women in Indonesia noticeably through global governance,
and working together with countries that uphold equality and gender welfare, as that is what makes
me motivated the most.

Through the Global Governance and Diplomacy program offered by the University, I believe the
course will develop my theoretical and practical skills in the field of governance and global
challenges and diplomatic practices to bring a good impact to Indonesia and internationally. Thank
you for taking the time to consider my application.
