Finding My Own Path in Life with Global Citizen to Malaysia

I am Indra, the 3rd semester student of Lampung University of Accounting Major in Economics
and Business Faculty. I have always been thinking about my future, building a career, becoming
a successful person and generally finding my own path in my life. Almost all my family
including my parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins have their jobs which somehow
connected to the field of unskilled labour. I have grown among under-educated family and it had
influence me to be better on the development of my personality so since early childhood I have
learnt the importance of education.
My school teachers always noted me, that I had good abilities in such subjects as Mathematics,
Economics and English language. This increased my interest in exact Economics, and I decided
to connect my future study with Economics (Major Accounting) area of activity, wishing to gain
success in the future. And if I become successful person, I will payback my parents for their
warmth and loving tender, as they have been those who have been supporting me throughout my
life.
For that reason I constructed a plan for achieving this long-term aim. By the plan I accomplished
some small objectives: graduated from school in the first rank of the best students in Senior High
School 9 Bandar Lampung and after graduated from Senior High School, I study in Lampung
University of Accounting Major. This year, I am going to be fourth semester in Accounting
Department Economics and Business Faculty from the University of Lampung, and opportunity
comes to my faculty that our Dean provided the Dean Scholarship. Dean Scholarship is
fullbright scholarship from dean funding and cooperate with AIESEC Program. The program is
Global Citizen is an program offered by AIESEC for young people to develop entrepreneurial
and responsible leadership qualities and skill.
A young citizen travels accross the world for the duration of 6 to 8 week to go through a cultural
learning experiences while working for projects and NGOs that aim to create positive impact in
society. This time, Dean Scholarship for Faculty of Economics and Business give scholarship to
Malaysia with duration Januari 2016 March 2016. The requirements are Bidikmisi

Student/Low Parent Income (Proof statement letter from Kelurahan), International Class Student
(All Batch), Minimum GPA 3.25, Advance in English (Student With TOEFL-ITP Minimum : 500
are preffered), and the latest Curriculum Vitae.
The first acquaintance with this Global Citizen began from collecting particular information
about it. That Infromation is from my friend that already become a member and staff in AIESEC
tell me that the importance and core interesting from this program. In this program, We can show
our ability and skill to other people who have other different basic culture and education. I really
want to join this program, but I still confused because this program use own money and the
amount of money is too much. After, I had found this dean scholarship, that makes opportunity to
be one step closer happen to my life.
If i had chance become acceptance in Dean Scholarship and Global Citizen to Malaysia. I really
excited and successful can payback my parents for their warmth and loving tender, as they have
been those who have been supporting me throughout my life with this program. Because if i
accepted in this program, it can makes me become first person in my biggest family that can
study abroad and goes to other country. If you know that Malaysia is the biggest innovative
country which takes active part in the field of fundamental and applied sciences. Furthermore,
the research investigations of students and scientists make a great contribution to the
development of high technologies in and outside the Malaysia. In addition to investigative work
that country keeps on stimulating entrepreneurial abilities in its society. It favoured the
establishment of more than 600 thousand industrial companies which successively function on
the basis of mutually beneficial collaboration with students and research personnel of Malaysian.
Furthermore, I was astonished reading about implementations which are conducted there. For
example, the development of the professional accountant that have International Certified and all
nation around the world legalize that profession are capable for multinational company. So, that
why I really excited if I can go to Malaysia with Dean Scholarship program.
This program are closest suitable for me because I have many organizational experinces and
achievement experiences. As far as my pertinent organizational experience is concerned, I would
like to mention that last month I was undergoing as coordinating of consumption in SSC FRESH

2015. This event providing kind of english branch competition to its participant among school in
Lampung Province region. As a coordinator of consumption, I had many duties starting from
reconfiguring number food and snack will be provide and finishing by serving to a certain
participants to set up a competition that day. During that event, I managed to acquire some
specific skills, for example, how to organizef food in different situation because we cant predict
that food will be empty before the event finish implemented. Likewise, I got to know how the
managed the consumption for many people in effective way. In addition, I learnt the principles of
team work and improved my communicative abilities. As a result, after completion of the
cooridinator consumption I was given a qualification of organizing committee in that event.
Also, I would like to mention that this month I was undergoing as Person in Charge (PIC) for
EECs English Regular Training 2015. This Regular Training event devotes myself to providing
responsibility to make this training become interesting for new student in Economics and
Business Faculty University of Lampung. As a Person in Charge (PIC) I had many duties starting
from reconfiguring number of english book module and tutor who have willing to teach new
student in Economics and Business Faculty University of Lampung and finishing by serving to a
certain new member to set up a training day. During that training, I managed to acquire some
specific skills, for example, how to organize, controll and make good plan for the other position
of organization Committee. Likewise, I got to know how to managed of my time and
organization time for many new student effectively. In addition, I learnt the principles of team
work and improved my communicative abilities. As a result, after completion of Person in
Charge (PIC), I was given a qualification of organizing committe in that Regular Training.
As regards my interests, I am glad to say that I am not a person who is only engaged in studies. I
have dozens of activities which I like to do. Generally, I would like to note that I have always
kept healthy lifestyle. I was taught that it is much better to struggle with your sicknesses by
developing your health rather than taking drugs infinitely. All these clearly define my high
interest in keeping healthy lifestyle that is reflected in my big love of sport. For instance, Im
every sunday jogging. Thus I always try to find sometime to go out and jogging together with my
friends. What is more, the fact that jogging is the most common sport in the Lampung so there
are plenty of Jogger every Sunday spend their time for doing it. In addition, I also like such kinds

of sports that upgrade strength, stamina, reaction and flexibility. That is why the list of my
favourite sports is very wide including not only jogging, but also swimming. Finally, I cannot
forget that reading books is another passion of mine. Thus, most of all I prefer science fiction,
fantasy, politic, govermental regulations and detective novels as my favourite genres.
In inside organizational member. Im as board on Second Division Economics English Club
(EEC) Economics and Business Faculty. This Organization aim is maximizing Economics and
Business Faculty about english ability and as path for joining not only local english competition
but also national english competition. This Organization provide the member with six branch
competition such as newscasting, debate, story telling, scrabble, speech and paper presentation.
Much experinces i had received from this organization that is somehow to organizing committee
and get achievement in local and national scoop.
Many achievement that i got from this organizational such as debating in ALSA E-Comp 2015
at University of Indonesia the result is 18th rank and got 3 victory point, Quarter Finalist of
English Debate Competition (Varsity) in EIA XIV 2015 in Southern-Sumatera Region, Story
Telling in Social Economic English Club (SEC) Competition 2015 in Lampung Province Region,
Debating in National University Debating Competition (NUDC) Selection in Lampung
University 2015, Translating in English Translating Competition SSC Fresh 2015 at Economics
and Business Faculty in Lampung Province Region, Semifinalist in 6th SUMATERAN IDEA
DEBATE 2015 at State of Polytechnic of Sriwijaya Scoop in Sumatera Region, Quarter finalist
English Debate in ACEC at State Polytechnic of Lampung 2015 and 1st Winner of Accounting
Best Student Award in Economics and Business Faculty of University Lampung 2015.
In outside organizational member. Im as member of Lampung Debate Society (LDS). That is
debater movement to collected all english debater in Lampung. The aim of this organization is
ideas collaboration and trophy fighter. Our weekly activities are become english debate trainer in
among Senior High School in Lampung. This Organization teach me to be better debater and
spread out my experinces to other debater and newbies.
With respect to my future career, as I already mentioned before the fact, that Global Citizen are
links its activity with innovative study with other student that have different basic culture and

skill and at the same time develop entrepreneurial skills of students, is a fundamental reason of
why I desire to select this program exactly serve by AIESEC. The question is that our faculty is
lack of highly qualified specialists in the find of student with highest good capabilities. What is
more, as student I am not satisfied with the level of provision of different exchange program
services that are also very expensive and I am sure that I am not the only one who supposes so. I
believe that our faculty especially has much more potential stuednt. Therefore, as a true patriot, I
wish to contribute to the development of the national competition and innternational competition.
In other words, if I got this dean scholarship and become student who have opportunity exchange
to Malaysia with Global Citizen Programme then I am going to return back to my faculty and
accounting major to make efforts to establish my own experinces for the purpose of providing
my experiences to all student in International Class and Regular Class. To implement such goal I
need to improve my leadership qualities experiences and acquire special knowledge in chosen
field of education, which will be possible if I can accept in this scholarship.
I personally believe that my experiences and education make me a strong candidate for this
particular internship opportunity in Dean Scholarship for Global Citizen to Malaysia. Thanks to
the numerous courses and trainings in my organization, I have gained experience in the project
cycle management, teamwork, intercultural management, and in conflict resolution. Additional,
through course in Accounting studies I have learned how to conduct financial statement analysis,
to draft memos and make research framework. As I know these skills are appreciated and
suitable by this programme, and therefore I believe you will perceive them as valuable asset to
your team. Nevertheless internship in Dean Scholarship for Global Citizen to Malaysia will
provide me an opportunity to gain further experience and upgrade my skills and knowledge. I
believe that combination of my skills, experience, and knowledge suits this scholarship
expectation regarding profile of person that get this position. Preferably I would like to do my
internship during Januari until March, as I do not have any obligations at the University because
that holiday. Big hoping that I can get Dean Scholarship for Global Citizen to Malaysia because i
have tons potential to make Economics and Business Faculty University of Lampung be better
than other faculty in University Lampung and other university in Indonesia.
