General Focus of Plan:


Taking the Algebra 2 emphasized standards and create specific learning targets for each standard and
create assessments to measure those learning targets.

Specific Goal(s):
Written in a manner that allows for progress to be noted.

Currently the exams for Algebra 2 were created years ago by Mr. Overly before the emphasized standards
were agreed upon. Those assessments were based more on "how we have always done it" than trying to
measure a student's mastery of the learning targets within each standard. To create better assessments,
we need specific learning targets for each of the standards along with a rubric to measure those standards.
By the end of the academic year, my goal is to have all of Algebra 2 completed. I would like to see many
more small assessment concentrating on a single learning target being added to the curriculum to measure
the learning targets and a unit assessment that concentrates more on the overall concepts than specific
problems.

I have attached one of the UbD plans showing the lack of learning targets.

Rational for the Plan:

What student learning concerns will this plan address and what data is used for
analyzing the goals and progress:
We want assessments that better match the standards addressed in each class. This plan will create better
assessments that measure whether our main standards are being addressed in the class.

How does this plan relate to building and/or district student achievement goals and
district career development goals:
This takes the Cohort learning and applies it directly to one of my classes. This should also make retakes
of assessments easier for the Algebra 2 teachers because all questions on the assessment will have a
specific learning target associated with it.

By Thanksgiving, the first unit learning targets identified along with sample questions to measure those
targets.
By Christmas, the second unit learning targets identified along with sample questions to measure those
targets.
By Spring break, all the remaining units complete with sample questions.
By End of the school year, sample assessments completed for each unit.

use at the beginning of the school year).
