Why: To better prepare students for their transition into the high school.
Fellow Grayhounds:
We are excited to be holding the Freshman Bootcamp for students entering their ninth grade year at
Burlington High School. We have a great four days planned for those who are up to the challenge.
The program will provide an opportunity for students to develop interpersonal skills, leadership skills,
and organizational skills. They will be guided through a process to set personal goals and develop action
plans to meet these goals. Each student will be provided with school supplies and given some instruction
on effectively organizing themselves for success. The Bootcamp will include a mixture of physical and
mental exercises in both individual and team situations. The activities have been selected specifically to
address what students have indicated were the most difficult aspects of their transition from middle to
high school. Lastly, students will get a chance to meet some of their teachers that they may have next
year and reconnect with their friends that they haven’t seen all summer.
To sign up, please navigate to www.bcsds.org/BHS and follow the link towards the top of the page
