INTRODUCTION OF INDIA TWO-WHEELER COMPANY

Bikes or two wheelers in India cater to various needs of the consumers. With the
choice of the Indians improving from bicycles to two wheelers, the Indian two-
wheeler market has seen a significant growth over the years. Now owing a bike has
become a must for most Indians. Even if people own a car, they prefer to have a
bike as it is very economical and fuel efficient.

With the growth in the economy the demand for two wheelers is increasing over
the years. It is one of the most dynamic industries today and with the increasing
competition companies are bringing in new products with sophisticated
technologies and innovative features to capture a major pie of the Indian market
and it’s the consumer who is benefited from it.

With the availability of reduced consumer loans and high disposable income the Indian
two-wheeler industry has perceived an exceptional growth over the past few years
thereby making India the second largest market for two wheelers in the world only
after China.

The motorcycle has now become one most popular mode of transportation among
the Indian middle-class families because of it is cost effective, economical and easy
to navigate through the traffic.

Moreover, the people have started preferring bikes instead of scooters and mopeds
and today bikes form a major part of the Indian two wheelers. Indian companies
are one of the largest two-wheeler manufacturers in the world. The number one
bike manufacturer in the world, Bajaj auto is in close competition with the Indian
manufacturer Bajaj India.

The motorcycle industry in India has witnessed a tremendous change in the 90‘s
with the invention of 4 stroke engine which makes the bikes more fuel efficient.
Further companies are trying to bring in more innovations to make the motorcycle
ride more comfortable, safe and user friendly and economical.
In a nut shell the followings factors can be distinguished for the growth
of motorcycle industry in India:

 Easy accessibility to cheap consumer loans

 The increase in the average income of the family.

 The reduction in duties and taxes.

 Convenience with regards to commuting as compared to the public


transport system.

 The first choice among youths and teenagers.


HISTORY OF THE COMPANY
Bajaj Automobiles, been Founded by Jamnalal Bajaj is an important and efficient company
which produces two and three wheelers. The Company’s history traces its successful
productions over the years. This reputed vehicle manufacturing company which is actually a
brand in itself is known for producing some of the finest, efficient and low-cost vehicles till
date. There are two holding companies Bajaj Auto International Holdings BV and PT Bajaj
Indonesia.

29th November 1945 marks a crucial date in the glory of Bajaj Auto as it came upon the
name of Bachraj Trading Corporation Private Limited. Sooner Bajaj Automobiles marked a
glory as it began selling imported vehicles in India.

In 1959 Bajaj Automobiles got permission from the Government to selling vehicles in India.
1960 witnessed Bajaj being made into a Public Limited Company. A year to be well
remembered is 1970 as it reflected a steady increase in automobile production of Bajaj. Right
after a year new models of vehicles got produced and in 1977 a lot of vehicles got produced
with varied models.1984 resembles a year when Bajaj laid a new plant at Waluj, Aurangabad.
There were plants laid at Pune too in the subsequent years.

November 2001 marked another turning point as a well-known Bike “Pulsar” was been
launched. Caliber was also launched in later years. Various policies even came into source.
Three separate segments to look upon certain areas were also been known well. 15000
million were also been given to Bajaj Investment and Holding Ltd. Later on in Uttarakhand
also various plants were been setup. The plant at Akurdi was closed due to large
manufacturing prices.

In November 2007the Company attained 14.51 percent equity stake in one of the well-
known brands at that time (KTM power Sports AG of Austria Europe). In 2009 the company
launched XCD 125 DTS – S. Later the company increased its production. The company was
also been honored with various awards like Bike of the year to name a few. Bajaj also had
good business relations various leading companies overseas. In 2015 all-new Platina Electric
start 100 cc bike was also been introduced.
Bajaj in 2017 achieved worldwide partnership with UK and had healthy relations with
Triumph Motorcycles, UK. Bajaj ranks 96th position among the top hundred automobiles
companies. Bajaj through its inception has being known to produce high quality motor
vehicles. It would be quite surprising to know that Bajaj Automobiles works efficiently in 50
countries and is working properly till date.
