Name of TV show: Riverdale

Termes Used:

 Habit- something you do so frequently and have done it for

so long that you no longer think about why you do it. (ch 7

pg 123).

 Personal conflict- is disagreement among group members

related to differences in personalities and communication

styles. (ch 8 pg 138).

 Consensus- a decision is one “that all members have a part

in shaping and that all find at least minimally acceptable

as a means of accomplishing a personal goal. (ch 9 pg 161).

Characters involved: Betty, Jug head, Archie, Veronica

Intro scene: Jug head goes to Stone Wall prep and there are

a group of people at that school who want to kill Jug Head

because he got the privilege of writing a new popular book

in a series and also believe that Jug Head has to many

potentially dangerous secrets. and blame the death on Betty.

Habit

A habit is “something you do so frequently and have done it

for so long that you no longer think about why you do it”

(Engleberg & Wynn 123). In this specific scene, Jug Head,

Betty Veronica and Ronnie always know how to get out of

trouble and scheme people to believe their story and

manipulate others. A minor character named Donna and Bret

lead Jug Head out to the woods to kill him and stuck him

over the head with a rock. Jug Head had a soft beanie on so

the rock failed to kill him. Betty realized they want Jug

head dead and Donna and Bret tried to frame the kill on

Betty. Betty realizes this and so she makes Donna and Bret

believe that she believes she killed Jug Head. Each of these

characters have tried to scerme one another so much, they do

it without thinking now. In my life, I also have habits that

are much healthier than the characters of Riverdale. I eat

healthy, workout and read every day. Habits can be for

better or for worse.

Personal conflict

A personal conflict is disagreement among group members

related to differences in personalities and communication

styles (Engleberg & Wynn 138). Leading up to the scene I

previously mentioned, there was a competition held called

the Baxter Brothers in which there would be people who would

send in writing to decide who would write the sequel to the

popular novel. Jug head had won the competition and

disagreed with Brett and Donna because they though he did.

It deserves the award and wasn’t worthy of accepting it.

This is part of the reason they wanted him dead. In my life,

I have many personal conflicts on a daily basis. Our lives

are filled with them. Just the other day I was talking with

a group member from another class and she was upset because

she had just gotten into a huge argument about how to work

best work together even though their communication styles

were so different. I was then brought into this and I am not

the one for drama.

Consensus

A consensus is “that all members have a part in shaping and

that all find at least minimally acceptable as a means of

accomplishing a personal goal” (Engleberg & Wynn 161). In

this specific scene, Archie, Betty, Jug Head and Veronica

come to the consensus that they are going to mess with Brett

and Donnas plot to kill Jug Head to make them believe they

actually killed him. The wanted to do this so they could

expose Brett and Donna for attempting to do this. I come to

consensuses almost every day in my life. In our small

groups, we all had to come together and talk about what we

wanted to do when covid-19 hit us and we could no longer

meet with our chosen group. We all had to decide to start

exploring the United Nations. I like collaborating with

others to try and find a common goal.
