The rules and laws we have in life are meant to guide us and protect us, and to keep order

in our
society. Imagine that you get to make 3 rules that everyone in the world must follow. What rules
would you make and why? Write a 300-word essay giving your opinion.

To live and function in a society, we must have rules we mostly all agree upon. Sometimes these rules
are informal rules, like the ones we have at home and in the classroom. Breaking these rules in
classroom may have consequences, such as a time out or detention, but breaking them usually doesn't
mean you're going to jail. Sometimes important rules are codified and applied to everyone in a
particular community. These rules are known as laws and breaking them can have more serious
consequences, such as going to jail or paying a fine.

If I were allowed to propose 3 rules to improve or guide our society I would like to start with our
education system. I consider that making the young people understand the basics of our society concept
is of vital importance. The first rule I have in mind is to have pupils and also students to learn the basics
of the major state institutions or at least for Parliament, Government, considering that law is more
difficult to understand, starting from 10 th grade. The idea came to me after hearing some colleagues of
mine not knowing what a censor motion is or what is the minimum 5% electoral threshold requested to
enter the Parliament. In my opinion these are elementary knowledge.

As a second rule I like to increase the age by which the citizens are allowed to vote. This is in connection
my first rule. The idea behind this second rule is that people need to have time to assimilate the
knowledge gained in high school and based on these knowledge they are expected to form an opinion
about the society and further they have to compare this opinion with the reality. First people need to be
mature, both mentally and physically, and after that they should be making decisions.

And the last rule I have in mind is actually something that I saw discussing on TV. The issue is related to
allowing parties to receive founding from public money. These was a statistic that I saw and the amount
received by the parties were quite high. These funds could have been better used for the common good.
There is no explanation of how the parties have spent this money so if other disagree with not allowing
this kind of funding, then at lest we should have a clear track of how the money were spent.

Rules are very important in a society and if sometimes it seems like there's no sufficient justification for
the rule, people should not ignore or break the rule. Instead, they should try to determine what can be
done to change the rule. Working within the rules to change the rules is something legislators do every
day all over the world.
