Legends on
First Try Presentatio
n
Adian 2 3 trying cultural twists (egyptian) but needs to work
on storytelling through line. Good group effort on
presentation, covered all material and knew the
background info well - well done collaborative
work.
Allison 3 3 Intonates properly when reading poetry.
Attempted free-verse before being taught and did
it well. Awesome first myth with many neat
additions (Vikings, Norse) but a little confused on
myths and gods - overall interesting idea though.
While the group obviously had some power issues,
they did a great job presenting and connecting the
science of the myth to the story - they went above
and beyond explaining the elements of the story.
It was fantastic to have the chase of Scorpio on the
ground and the sky explained - highly memorable.
Ben laptop 3 Enjoys free verse poetry - writing about historic
boats. Did well analyzing the indigenous Orion
myth, and comparing the two cultures (greek
versus native american), and chose to go beyond
and act it out to showcase it better than it was
written.
Braxden 1 3 needs to be caught up on myths from missing first
2 days. Group presentation was extremely well
done - lots of background information researched
and the myth was well-explained.
Burhan 2 2 really intriguing first legend BUT copying Caleb?
Presentation was a little goofy, and hard to hear -
overall the information was there but they didn’t
present it with a lot of clarity.
Caleb 2 3 Copied from Burhan? Very dark and interesting
story but needs more time writing. Good group
effort on presentation, covered all material and
knew the background info well - well done
collaborative work.
Chloe 2 3 Wolf story first - focusing on characters a little too
much. While the group obviously had some power
issues, they did a great job presenting and
connecting the science of the myth to the story -
they went above and beyond explaining the
elements of the story.
Delena absent 3 Group presentation was extremely well done - lots
of background information researched and the
myth was well-explained.
Drayden 0 1 Needs motivation through relevant examples
(titanic). Wouldn’t write any first piece, but spoke
of an awesome myth about a rogue wave created
by Poseidon that took out some historical ship -
neat story just not written. While the group
presentation was well-done, Drayden was absent
for most of the work, and when his group
prompted him to help or speak up he shirked
away.
Hailey 3 3 Embracing dramatic storytelling and really coming
out of her shell! Very personal first story - needs a
bit more thought but great idea and through line.
Group presentation was excellent - group shared,
voiced well and supported each other. Wrote
personal thoughts and interpretation of myth -
asked a lot of good questions about the storey and
analyzed well.
Hudson 3 3 Great story idea - fun, creative, and very Hudson.
Just needs to get writing and more time.
Presentation had good voice and group effort -
they helped each other read and follow along. The
information was nicely broken down and they
clearly knew their myth very well. Acting was well
done too and really added to the understanding.
Ivan 2 3 Copying first story from another work? Minimal
effort here. Presentation had good voice and
group effort - they helped each other read and
follow along. The information was nicely broken
down and they clearly knew their myth very well.
Acting was well done too and really added to the
understanding.
Jakob 3 3 “Shadow” idea for first story really neat, just
would love to see it written down more. Did well
analyzing the indigenous Orion myth, and
comparing the two cultures (greek versus native
american), and chose to go beyond and act it out
to showcase it better than it was written.
Jared 2 2 Fantastic poetry performance. Still wants to try
everything video game related. Misconstruing
myth and folktale - explaining versus magic?
writing is effortful but not his best. Presentation
was a little goofy, and hard to hear - overall the
information was there but they didn’t present it
with a lot of clarity.
Jeremiah 1 3 Planning is minimal and there was no effort put
here. Tom Cruise in a myth? Presentation had
good voice and group effort - they helped each
other read and follow along. The information was
nicely broken down and they clearly knew their
myth very well. Acting was well done too and
really added to the understanding.
Jeremy 4 4 Very knowledgeable and engaged with myth and
legends. Needs more time to go through his big
ideas. Taking gods and explaining new things in
first myth - really intricate and well done. Group
presentation was extremely well done - lots of
background information researched and the myth
was well-explained. Jeremy had memorized his
myth and its sub-stories and explained it very
clearly.
Kassandr 3 3 nice first concept and planning - just needs to get
a to developing it into an awesome story. Group
presentation was well done - acting while having it
read so clearly was very nice and easy to
understand. Group made good connections
between analysis and stars.
Keenan laptop 3 Did well analyzing the indigenous Orion myth, and
comparing the two cultures (greek versus native
american), and chose to go beyond and act it out
to showcase it better than it was written.
Ken 2 3 Confusion over genre and tropes. Trying to rework
old stories into something new. Would like to see
him create original text. Did well analyzing the
indigenous Orion myth, and comparing the two
cultures (greek versus native american), and chose
to go beyond and act it out to showcase it better
than it was written.
Kyla 1 3 focuses on characters, no story. Really eager to
continue her writing and is working on developing
a deeper story, enjoys the prompted creativity,
not full creativity (wanted to miss art to write!).
Read aloud during group presentation and was
fantastic. Good reading voices, linked the stars and
the story very well, and was a great group effort
for all. Content was well-explained.
La’Zaria 3 3 Creepy and catchy first try - BUT says its a myth
then writes like a “Blood Mary” style story. Group
presentation was excellent - group shared, voiced
well and supported each other. Wrote personal
thoughts and interpretation of myth - asked a lot
of good questions about the storey and analyzed
well.
Loreal 2 3 using friends in first myth, confusion in tropes -
may be good to separate her when writing so her
ideas come to fruition. Good reading voices, linked
the stars and the story very well, and was a great
group effort for all. Content was well-explained.
Niall 0 2 did not write anything first try - “I don’t know”.
Presentation was a little goofy, and hard to hear -
overall the information was there but they didn’t
present it with a lot of clarity.
Raquel 2 3 incorporates friends - not tropes - no through line
but some ideas coming up nicely. needs to write!
While the group obviously had some power issues,
they did a great job presenting and connecting the
science of the myth to the story - they went above
and beyond explaining the elements of the story.
Struggled reading large chunks out loud but did
quite well overall.
Raven 3 3 Quite enjoyed performing myths rather than just
reading - good to see her participating. Awesome
first story; creative and full of good ideas from the
beasts to the lessons. Good group effort on
presentation, covered all material and knew the
background info well - well done collaborative
work. Read aloud during presentation without
being pushed and did not shut down (asked for
help) when she didn’t know a word.
Sarah 2 3 confusion on genre and tropes? Using friends as
characters but not changing them to myth… Group
presentation was excellent - group shared, voiced
well and supported each other. Wrote personal
thoughts and interpretation of myth - asked a lot
of good questions about the storey and analyzed
well.
Sarai 3 3 Actively enjoying and searching out poetry. Good
connection making and prior knowledge.
Awesome story teller. Good reading voices, linked
the stars and the story very well, and was a great
group effort for all. Content was well-explained.
Sophia 2 absent went a little overboard on characterization and
powers but some good ideas coming through -
needs to get to writing not just planning.
Taniah absent absent
Tasmia 2 3 Trying to incorporate literary devices into her
writing effectively. Working on improving her
reading voice and intonation/ adding expression -
making great progress. Focuses on Characters so
much when writing there is no first story. Group
presentation was excellent - group shared, voiced
well and supported each other. Wrote personal
thoughts and interpretation of myth - asked a lot
of good questions about the storey and analyzed
well.
Vaughn laptop 3 some good basic connections being made (Zeus,
gods, beasts) on his first planning sheet.
Presentation had good voice and group effort -
they helped each other read and follow along. The
information was nicely broken down and they
clearly knew their myth very well. Acting was well
done too and really added to the understanding.
William 3 3 Highly engaged with myth and legends - lots of
prior knowledge to build from. Good basis on
planning. Lots of background knowledge just
needs to get to writing the story. Group
presentation was well done - acting while having it
read so clearly was very nice and easy to
understand. Group made good connections
between analysis and stars.
Yebin n.a 3 participated in the group presentation and spoke
in front of the class - did shirk away further into it
but nice to see her jumping out of her comfort
zone.
Zach B. 2 2 planning for first story done with WIlliam - learned
a lot of basic myth connections and planned a
decent story but was so focused on that he didn't
get to writing. Could be an interesting story
though (Ares, Typhon, and beasts...lots of battle).
Presentation was a little goofy, and hard to hear -
overall the information was there but they didn’t
present it with a lot of clarity.
Zaiser 0 2 Group presentation was extremely well done - lots
of background information researched and the
myth was well-explained. Zaiser was not
particularly helpful to his group during the process
though.
Zenah laptop 3 Embracing creative performance, really helping
others understand and remember and I think she
learns a lot from it too. Group presentation was
well done - acting while having it read so clearly
was very nice and easy to understand. Group
made good connections between analysis and
stars.
