Activity 1: Warm up
Aim: -to introduce the students into the atmosphere of the lesson
-to draw students’s attention on the topic
- to elicit needed vocabulary for the topic
Interaction: teacher-students
Procedure: Teacher announces the title of the lesson and asks students to look at the photo of
Oprah Winfrey and discuss the questions with a partner. In addition to asking students about
their favourite programme, teacher asks also about what sort of problems people discuss om
these shows.
Time: 5 minutes

Activity 2
Aim: -to prepare for the listening task by predicting the content of the passage
Interaction: teacher-students, students-students - pairwork
Procedure: Teacher asks students to read the notes and with a partner predict what the
content of the radio programme will be.
Time: 5 minutes

Activity 3
Aim: -to raise students expectations by using predictive skills
Interaction: teacher-students, students-students - groupwork
Procedure: Teacher divides the class into small groups which should think of as many words
as possible to fit the gaps, then for feedback. The group with the most words for each gap
wins 1 point; the winner is the group with the most points at the end of the game.
Time: 5 minutes

Activity 4
Aim: - to listen for specific information
Interaction: teacher-students, pairwork
Procedure: Teacher plays the recording once and lets students to complete the missing
information . They should check their answers with a partner before playing it again.
Time: 10 minutes

Activity 5
Aim: - to express their opinions on talk shows
Interaction: students-students, groupwork, teacher- students
Procedure: Teacher divides the class into two ; those who agree with the first sentence move
to the left, those who agree with the second sentence move to the right . In these groups
students should discuss other reasons why they think talk-shows are good or bad.
Time: 10 minutes

Homework

T asks Ss to design their own talk show. They should mention who the host of the talk show
would be, what kind of people would they invite and why, the topics of the talk show,
setting,etc
