The folding of the edge modules is shown here with square paper. The same folding sequence can be used with
other rectangles.
Similar modules are made before by Tomoko Fuse (Unit Origami, Japan Publication, 1990) and Francis Ow
(Modular Origami [self-publication]). After this folding sequence here the assembly of the modules is easier and
the vertices look nicer.

The grid is 56 x 56. Form the horizontal pleats on the body and abdomen first, then pleat
vertically while shifting the folded edges on the sides. The rest of the base is completed with a
series of Elias stretches along the edges of the square.
To shape, petal-fold the frontmost edges on the head underneath. Narrow the head and
thorax, and then fold the legs out to the sides, pinching and bending all the appendages to
taste.
