lntroduction
In this compelling worksheet activity, students express their likes
and dislikes for different work activities and choose a job far a
partner based on their preferences.
Procedure
Give each student a copy of the worksheet.
Go through the vocabulary in the questionnaire with the class and
review the language far expressing likes and dislikes at the top of
the worksheet.
Ask the students to think about the work activities in the
questionnaire and to number each one, according to how much
they like or dislike doing the activity. The s t u d e n t s write their
answers i n the column m a r k e d ‘ Y o u ’ .
When the students have finished, tell them that they are going to
interview a partner on their likes and dislikes and choose a job for
them based on their preferences.
Gee through the questionnaire a n d elicit e x a m p l e questions and
answers. Also, model h o w to ask for explanations, e.g. 'Why do you
lave...?' 'Why do you really l i k e ... ?'
Next, divide the students into pairs.
The students then ask their partner the questions on the worksheet
and complete the questionnaire with their aisles.
When everyone has finished, tell the students to think of a job for
their partner based on the work activities he or she likes doing.
If you think y o u r students need help with th is , w r i t e t h e following
on the board: ·

The students then take it in turns to tell the class about the job
they chose for their partner and the reasons for their choice.
After each studiers has presented, see if their partner agrees with
their choice and give feedback. ·
