Suggestions on How to Prepare for Sunday

Sunday School Teachers

MONDAY
Think about your lesson topic for the next Sunday. Contact those who were
absent with a telephone call. Let them know that their presence is important to
the class, and that it was not the same since they were absent. Pray that God will
use what you say to speak to the hearts of the children.

TUESDAY
Read through your lesson. Think about the topic. Pray that God will use what you
say to speak to the hearts of the children.

WEDNESDAY
Note what material you will need and begin preparation of getting items together.
You may find some items located in the teacher’s supply office. Mail a sealed
envelope to those who were absent. Put in writing any special event that will be
upcoming that month. Add a coupon they may retrieve upon their return that
coming Sunday. Have a special box for them to select from to redeem the coupon.
Pray that God will use what you say to speak to the hearts of the children.

THURSDAY
Read carefully through the whole lesson. Highlight cues to help you in your
presentation of the lesson. Pray that God will use what you say to speak to the
hearts of the children.

FRIDAY
See if there are any birthdays that week to acknowledge. Allow a short time of
celebration, and present a small gift if possible. Sing Happy birthday. Pray that
God will use what you say to speak to the hearts of the children.

SATURDAY
Finalize all preparations (materials, props, birthday cards, gifts, ect). Place in carry
bag ready to go for Sunday morning. Make an effort to go to bed earlier if
possible. Pray that God will use what you say to speak to the hearts of the
children.

SUNDAY
Arrive 15 minutes before the class time begins. Greet each child with a smile and
a word of cheer. Those who arrive first are the ones in control of the class. Pray
that God will use what you say to speak to the hearts of the children. Give stickers
for attendance each week, bringing Bible, visitor, and knowing Bible verse.
