SECTION 22 35 13_CALORIFIERS

PART 1 - GENERAL

1.1 REFERENCE
A. Confirm to general requirements for mechanical services

1.2 QUALITY ASSURANCE

A. Manufacturer’s Qualifications: Firms regularly engaged in manufacturer of water tank of types and
capacities required, whose products have been in satisfactory use in similar service for not less
than 5 years.
B. The equipment and its accessories shall be manufactured by the original manufacturer within their
factory premises and shall not be outsourced nor relabeled from third party manufacturers.

1.3 CODE STANDARD


A. CE standard: equipment under pressure 97/23/CE, Low tension 73/23/CE.

1.4 SUBMITTALS
A. Product Data: Submit manufacturer’s technical product data including rated capacities and
efficiencies of selected model clearly indicated; operating weights; furnished specialties and
accessories; and installation and start up instructions.
B. Shop Drawings: Submit manufacturer’s assembly type shop drawings indicating dimensions,
required clearances, and methods of assembly of components.
C. Maintenance Data: Submit maintenance data and parts lists for each type and size of hot water
tank, control, and accessory; including troubleshooting “maintenance guide. Include this data,
product data, shop drawings, and wiring diagrams in maintenance manual.
D. Certificates: Submit appropriate certificate of shop inspection and data report as required.

1.5 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING

A. Handle water tank and components carefully to prevent damage, breaking, denting and scoring.
B. Do not install damaged water tank or components; remove from site and replace with new.
C. Store water tank and components in clean dry place. Protect from weather, dirt, fumes, water,
construction debris, and physical damage.
D. Comply with manufacturer’s rigging and installation instructions for unloading water tank, and
moving units to final location for installation.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.1 DOMESTIC HOT WATER


A. Domestic hot water tank shall be vertical type configuration and as per site requirements. Tank
should be designed according to DGS recommendation regarding prevention of legionnaire’s
disease.
B. Tank shall be constructed from Great longevity STAINLESS STEEL AISI 316 L with welding
outside and inside, with max working pressure 10 bar, test pressure 15 bar and maximum working
temperature 95 Deg C. Tank should consist of U tube heater with specified capacity. U Tube
heater should be demountable tube heater with stainless steel, tube bundle mounted on the
inspection manhole 400mm.
C. Two way temperature control valves with sensor to be connected for each tank to stop the water
flow when desired temperature is achieved.

2.2 FINISHES

A. Manufacturer shall provide a seven year warranty for vessel.


1. Each Calorifier shall be complete with following accessories:
a. Inlet/outlet/hot water return/drain connections
b. Temperature and pressure relief valve
c. Temperature gauges 0 to 100 deg C at inlet and outlet
d. Pressure gauges 60mm 0 to 10bar
e. Safety release valve
f. Automatic Air vent
g. Low level pressure switch
h. Anti-vacuum valve of adequate rating
i. 1 Nos fitted inspection flange cover.
j. Sensor. for each tank. Top sensor for o/t cut off at 75 deg C, middle sensor for PLC
control and low level sensor for monitoring
k. Lifting hook
2. The calorifier shall be fitted with battery of stainless steel 316 coil heat exchanger and
capable of raising the contents from 20 deg c to 60 deg c in two hours and ensuring the
tank reaches 60 deg C with a heat pump source temperature of 65 deg C. Primary
Temperatures supplied will be of 65 deg C.
3. The calorifier shall be manufactured as per ASME or PED standards and National Board
approved.
4. Secondary connections shall be screwed to BS 21 or flanged to BS 4504 for the following
connections:
a. Secondary flow outlet
b. Secondary return inlet
c. Cold feed inlet
d. Drain
5. The shell shall be fitted with screwed connections for the following mountings (supplied
loose for site assembly).

a. Safety valve/pressure temperature relief valve


b. Pressure and temperature gauges
c. Electronic anodes suitable for stainless steel tanks
d. Bottom supports to be or Ring type.
6. The shell to be fully lagged with 50mm thick PU foam insulation and clad with 1mm thick GI
sheets painted blue with Aluminimum cladded.
7. Tank sizes are to be verified with the actual capacity.
8. The product shall be manufactured and existing in the market for 25 years.
9. Heating elements if applicable shall be stainless steel / Incoloy electric immersion
medium/low density heating element type, 7 - 10 W/cm² maximum, preset to 70 deg C
safety cut-out. All elements electrically tested, wired and pre-assembled for easy
installation.
10. Master Control Panel shall be PLC controller based Industrial standard IP55 control panel
mounted on wall for controlling single or multiple tank operation with stage heating, door
inter-locked isolator. Heater indicator LED for each heating stage. Power-on/off LED, auto-
off-manual switch for each stages. Temperature sensor shall be PT100. The power
elements shall be cut off should the temperature reaches 75 deg C as a safety measure.
Panel shall be compatible for BACNet/IP protocol for BMS connectivity.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.1 GENERAL
A. Install hot water tank in accordance with manufacturer’s installation instructions.
B. Install units plumb and level, firmly anchored in locations indicated, and maintain manufacturer’s
recommended clearances.

3.2 SUPPORT

A. Place units on concrete pads orient so controls and devices needing services and maintenance
have adequate access.

3.3 PIPING
A. Connect hot and cold water piping to units with shut off valves and unions, Connect recalculating
water line to unit with shut off valve, check valve and union. Extend relief valve discharge to
closest floor drain.

3.4 GAUGES
A. Provide thermometers and pressure gauges on inlet and outlet piping of water tank and
recirculation pump, in accordance with Basic Mechanical materials and methods section.
B. Start up: Start up, test and adjust hot water tank in accordance with manufacturer’s start up
instructions.
