Color and yarn

I used Nature Organic Wool form Hobbii. This yarn is so easy to work with. I used 2 strands of
yarn so the sweater was worked up pretty quickly. By using 2 strands I obtained a medium
weight yarn, size 4. Normally, in one strand the yarn is in super fine weight category, size 1 and
each skein has 50 grams and 230 m. For this pattern I used 2 different colors: White and Blue
Sky.

About the Design

The Rain Drops Sweater is a beautiful textured sweater that is so comfortable and cozy. Plus it’s
fashionable and eye catching. It’s worked Top-Down using the Raglan Technique. We will start
with the yoke part and then separate the sleeves from the rest of the body and work the 3 parts
individually. This sweater has shorter sleeves and waist length, but can easily be adjusted to the
desired measurements.

This pattern is available in sizes Small, Medium, Large, XL and 2XL and is written in US terms.
The final measurements of the Rain Drops Sweater are listed in the diagram below:

About the stitches

The stitch pattern is 1 front post double crochet and 1 double crochet alternated.
The front post double crochet is made by inserting the hook from back to front and making the
double crochet around the double crochet from the previous round. Bellow you will find the stitch
chart with the first rounds of the yoke.

Now that every details are written down let’s start making this gorgeous Rain Drops Sweater

*For the entire yoke we are using the white color

*the entire sweater is worked in rounds only on the right side

Start with the foundation chain:

● S = 68 sts (23 for the back side and for the front, 9 sts for each sleeve, 4 stitches for the
corners)
● M = 76 sts (25 for the back and front, 11 sts for sleeves, , 4 sts for corners)
● L = 84 sts ( 27 for back and front , 13 for sleeves, 4 sts for corners)
● XL = 92 sts ( 29 for back and front , 15 for sleeves, 4 sts for corners)
● 2XL = 96 sts ( 31 for back and front , 15 for sleeves, 4 sts for corners)

Collar
First we will work the collar. *you can add the collar at the end if you want

Round 1
Ch 3, 1 dc in each st around.

Round 2
Ch 3, [1 FPDc in the next st, 1 dc in next]. Repeat to the end of the round. Sl st with the 3rd st of
the starting chain.

Rounds 3 to 6
Repeat round 2.

Yoke
*the values for sizes M, L , 1X Land 2X L are written between brackets
Ch 3 at the beginning of the row counts as a first Dc

Round 1
Ch 3, (1 FPDc, 1 dc) in first 12 (12, 14, 14, 16), 1 inc in next (2 dc in the same st), (1 FPDc, 1dc)
in next 9 (11, 13, 15, 15) sts, 1 inc in next, (1 FPDc, 1dc) in next 23 (25, 27, 29, 31) sts, 1 inc in
next, (1 FPDc, 1dc) in next 9 (11, 13, 15, 15) sts, 1 inc in next, (1 FPDc, 1dc) in next 11 (13, 13,
15, 15) sts.Sl st with the 3rd st of the starting chain.

*after each increase put a stitch marker in the second stitch to know where you will have to
make the increase on the next round.

Round 2
Ch 3, (1 FPDc, 1 dc) to the first corner (the marked st), 1 inc. Repeat to the end of the round.
*On this round you will have 3 dc in corner: 1 before the inc and 2 the increase itself. On the
next round the dc before the increase will became a front post double crochet.

Next, we will repeat round 2, alternating 1 FPDC with 1 dc, and increasing with 2 dc in the
second st of the previous round increase until we finish the yoke part and we have in total:
*not counting the collar rounds:

● S = 20 rounds
● M = 23 rounds
● L = 26 rounds
● XL = 29 rounds
● 2XL = 31 rounds

Body
For all sizes
We will start the body section with 1 separating round.
The first 2 rounds of the body are made in the white color.

Round 1
Start the round as usual and work (1 FPDc, 1 dc) until you get to the first corner (the second dc
of the increase) 1 dc in the corner, ch 17, skip the sts for the sleeve to the next corner, 1 dc in
next corner.

Continue with the stitch pattern until you get to the next corner and proceed the same as in the
other part. After the second join, continue with the stitch pattern to the end of the round. Sl st
with the 3rd stitch of the starting chain.

Round 2
Ch 3, continue with the st pattern until you get to the joining ch. In each of the ch sts make 1 dc
and then continue with the stitch pattern to the second chain and proceed the same. Work the
stitch pattern to the end of the round.

Round 3
Change the color. For a second color of the sweater I used 1 strand of white and 1 strand of
blue sky.

Ch 3, (1 FPDc, 1 dc) to the end of the round. Sl st with the 3rd st of the starting chain.

You will notice that the sweater has an odd shape. This is because we increase with only one st
in the corners, but don’t worry the sweater will mold perfectly on the shoulders.

Next all you have to do is to repeat round 3 until you have the desired length. You will have to
change the color one more time using 2 strands of color blue sky. Keep working to the desired
length or until you have in total for the body:

● S = 32 rounds (2 with white, 15 with white and blue sky, 15 in blue sky)
● M = 32 rounds (2 with white, 15 with white and blue sky, 15 in blue sky)
● L = 34 rounds (2 with white, 16 with white and blue sky, 16 in blue sky)
● XL = 34 rounds (2 with white, 16 with white and blue sky, 16 in blue sky)
● 2XL = 36 rounds (2 with white, 17 with white and blue sky, 17 in blue sky)

After finishing the body, add one more round making 1 single crochet decrease in each 2 sts (2
single crochet worked together) to avoid the bottom of the sweater to curl in the exterior.

Sleeves
*first 2 rounds are worked in white.
We will join the yarn at the armpit, in the middle dc of the 17 sts that we made when joining.

Round 1
Ch 3, (1 FPDc, 1 dc) to the end of the round. Sl st with 3rd st of the starting chain.

Next, repeat round 1 until you get to the desired length of the sleeve. With the color pattern,
make the same number of rounds as for the body with color white and white with blue sky. With
color Blue sky you can make less or more rounds.

In total you can make for the sleeve:

S = 26 rounds (2 in white, 15 in white and Blue Sky, 9 in blue Sky)

M = 26 rounds (2 in white, 15 in white and Blue Sky, 9 in blue Sky)
L = 28 rounds (2 in white, 16 in white and Blue Sky, 10 in blue Sky)
XL = 28 rounds (2 in white, 16 in white and Blue Sky, 10 in blue Sky)
2XL = 29 rounds (2 in white, 17 in white and Blue Sky, 10 in blue Sky)

At the end of the sleeve just repeat the same as we did on the body, make one more round with
2 single crochet together all around.

And that was it: a beautiful, cozy and fashionable sweater.
