In response to the Advisory Nos. 1 to 6 issued by the Commission on Higher Education


(CHED) on the “Prevention, Control, and Mitigation of the Spread of Coronavirus Disease
2019 (COVID-19)”, the tertiary education department hereby issues the following
advisory:

 In-person graduation ceremony is scheduled indefinitely given the continuing


need for physical distancing and temporary restrictions on mass gathering. The
said ceremony is tentatively listed in October 2020 or in April 2021 together with
the Graduate School’s Graduation; however, if the emerging condition will not
improve, the said academic activity may be cancelled.

o The release of the transcript of records (TOR) and diploma is available


sometime May 2020 regardless of when is the schedule of the in-person
graduation ceremony.

 The grading scheme was revisited and reviewed by the administrators in


consultation with the faculty and student leaders. A better grading scheme was
decided, particularly in the computation of the TLAs and ATs. The administrators
also agreed to assign a perfect score for the final examination.

 Students who were undergoing OJT/Internship and were pulled out due to the
ECQ are not allowed to return to their assigned companies or hospitals instead
are advised to coordinate with the Dean and the OJT/Internship Coordinator of
the specific college for further instructions.

 Comprehensive examination in all Colleges is temporarily scheduled at the end of
the first semester of SY 2020-2021.

 Students are advised to settle financial obligations and other material


requirements in the different academic services offices utilizing the online
clearance system.

o Students with unliquidated accounts, unreturned apparatuses, unreturned


books, and other related obligations are required to settle the
responsibility as soon as the school resumes its operation.
o The Deans and concerned unit heads are requested to assists and follow-
up students’ vis-à-vis aforementioned concerns.

 Summer classes are cancelled; hence, the Deans in coordination with the
coordinators will make necessary curricular modifications to cover changes of
schedule, particularly the summer offerings, to ensure students will still graduate
on time.

 Due to the emerging conditions, the administration has decided to change the
fiscal year; thus, classes will start maybe in July 2020 or August 2020 depending
upon the situation.

 Enrolment for the school year 2020-2021 will start two-weeks before the opening
of classes in July 2020 or August 2020.

o Old students may enroll using the online registration portal.


o Incoming freshmen and transferees are advice to coordinate with the
admission office and the registrar’s office for the enrollment process.
o Old and incoming freshmen are advised to always visit the UIC official FB
account (www.fb.med/uicph) or website (www.uic.edu.ph) for updates.

 In case physical distancing continues to be implemented, an alternative mode of


delivery, particularly Distance Education, will be utilized for SY 2020-2021 in lieu
of the in-campus learning. This is to ensure continuity and inclusion for all
students enrolled in the university.

o Policies and guidelines re distance education will be disseminated prior to


its implementation.

o Other learning platforms will be utilized to accommodate students,
particularly those with limited to no connectivity.
o Resources and other options are currently being studied for a reasonable,
effective, and smooth implementation of the new delivery mode.

Amidst the pandemic situation, the university is devising measures to safeguard


the health and safety of the returning students, faculty, and staff. It also ensures that
concerns of the academic community are being taken care of.

Meanwhile, we would like to encourage all students to abide and follow policies
and guidelines mandated by the government in the prevention, control, and mitigation
of the COVID 19 disease. Please continue the practice of physical distancing, the
wearing of a mask, and washing of hands.

With the intercession of Mary, our Mother, let us continue to ask God to guide
our footsteps and keep us safe always. That, in His mighty name, will continuously bless
us with good health, sound mind, and the grace to acknowledge, appreciate and thank
Him for all the blessings we received in this time of distress.
