people’s gender, ethnic origin and cultural background (up to 1500 characters). 

I took Understanding Culture, Society, and Politics for a semester and it helped me understand my
culture as well as other cultures. It gave me this eagerness to explore other cultures in order to develop
cultural sensitivity, tolerate difference, and appreciate diversity. My teacher had spent her
years teaching in different places in the world and she was able to share different things
in class.

My family migrated in the mountains and we had lived here for many years. A lot of you
may not know but the Philippines is home to almost 110 ethno-linguistic groups and I happen to
live in the cordillera region which is famous for the preserve indeginous culture. Despite living in a land
away from home, my parents never failed to instill in my heart our culture and values.

There were certain differences of our cultures but being born here made me appreciate the differences.
