SIZE OF SPECIMENS

Calculate magnification and size of biological specimens using millimetres as units.

Biological drawings

Biological drawings are used to show details observed in specimens and they should show the important details and
should be in correct proportion

Rules for making biological drawings

• Drawings should be large, at least a half page of A4


• Use sharpened HB pencil
• Use clear clean outlines, no sketching
• Do not shade or use of colored pencils.
• Draw only what you see in the specimen
• Use clear labelling, that do not cross
• Calculate magnification for all drawings

Magnification = Length / diameter drawing (image)

Note:
 All measurements are done in mm not cm

 Magnification have no units. We only put x after the answer.
