SECTION 2

To start with, let us first define “Education.” According to Merriam-Webster dictionary, the term

education refers to the knowledge, skill, and understanding that you get from attending school,

college or university. As an anonymous author said, Education is a right of every individual not a

privilege. Thus, the state must provide quality education for all and do everything to reach out the

farthest community to educate each citizen of the country for free as much as possible.

To meet what is written to the Philippine constitution, the Department of Education and other

educational agencies don’t stop on doing researches to provide a quality Educational System that is

equitably accessible to all and lay the foundation for lifelong learning and service for the common

good. Aside from the formal education, we have informal education programs like Alternative

Learning System (ALS) and Alternative Delivery Modes (ADM) to meet the needs of young citizens in

different communities; either near or far flung communities. The said programs serve for those who

won’t be able to go to school due to financial problems, early marriage and other factors. Despite

these programs, Philippines, although they claim that education is free but it’s not. They provide very

low budget for education and after that, leave the responsibility to each school to support their

program which they call decentralization. Yes, it’s true that every employee in the school is

considered educator but still, self and spiritual growth must be within each individual to be a good

educator to every student inside and outside the classroom.

If the government really wants to attain Education for All, quality and access to education must

be improved, well-planned and developed.
