This document contains information about Community Patch 1.74.

This patch is inofficial and has been developed by the Gothic 3 Community Patch
Team
"Ritter des 12. Feuerkelches" (Knights of the 12th Fire Chalice).

We would like to thank the staff members of Spellbound who kindly contributed fixes
to
Community Patch 1.6.

1. You install this patch at your own risk!

No responsibility is taken for potential problems arising after installation.

2. The Community Patch 1.74 can only be uninstalled by uninstalling Gothic 3

completely.

3. All previous patches are automatically uninstalled or overwritten resp. with the
installation of this patch.

3.1 The Ini Backup which may have been created by previous CPs will also be
deleted.
This is necessary because installing this patch will result in important
changes
to the "ge3.ini" file.

3.2 All ini files of the game will be exchanged by CP 1.74. They must not be
replaced with
an older versions, because this will cause errors.

4. Gothic 3 Modifications may lead to problems during the installation of this

patch.
Please uninstall/delete them before the installation (including all related
files in
the Gothic 3 folder).

5. Savegames that have been created before installing CP 1.70 can't be used with CP
1.74.

2. Known issues

Despite the fact that since the first CPT release a four digit number of fixes have
been
and the fact that the game is much more stable right now, there are still a few
stability
issues and other bugs which could not been fixed yet.

1. High resolution texture settings will still result in a higher crash frequency
than
mid or low resolution textures.

2. Gothic III will still run out of memory when playing longer sessions (internally
we
have one crash in 6-7 hours with high texture resolutions). Teleporting
frequently
can further reduce the crash frequency.

3. Teleporting will take a little longer due to memory management changes.

4. Alt Tabbing randomly leads to a black screen when tabbing in again.

5. NPCs can be invisible in rare cases. Just walk far away and return.

6. Camera can flicker in some cases. Just scroll camera out and in again.

7. If the hero sits down on a throne in first person mode, the camera will face the

backrest instead of looking to the front.

8. In first person mode sometimes graphic fragements show up (the hero's eyes or
nose).

9. The game crashes if the player passes underneath the bridge south of Geldern.

10. At certain times of the day, black shadows might appear on some ground
textures.

11. Rain and wind can also be heard in caves and other usually soundproof places.

12. The rain sound can disappear completely in some areas. (It will come back when
a
new rain starts).

13. When using graphics cards who only support shader 2.0 (e.g. ATI Radeon 9500-
9800),
red textures can appear. Workaround: Set the "shadow quality" in the details
menu of
the game to "low" or "off", or switch to shader 1.4 settings.
14. We advise against using the game's own edge smoothing when antialiasing is
activated
over the graphic card's driver at the same time.

15. Creative alchemy software may lead to broken view of textures/materials.

If unexpected new problems arise after installation of this patch, the following is
recommended:

- Uninstall Gothic 3
- Delete the installation folder(s)
- Maybe defragment your hard drive
- Install the game anew
- Install Community Patch 1.74 anew
- Maybe defragment your hard drive again
- Restart your computer

can be found within the installation directory, once the patch has been
successfully
installed: �CP_Changelog_en.txt�.
