Heroes of Present Times

On these times of a virus outbreak, as mostly of us retreated to stay at comfort on our

own homes, there are these so called ‘frontliners’ which selflessly choose to serve the country
even in the face of the dreaded COVID-19 to mitigate and if possible, eradicate the crisis we’re
all going through. These frontliners – healthcare workers, scientists, cleaners, cashiers and
employees in grocery stores, drivers, delivery men, journalists, and countless others- continue to
brave through checkpoints and the lack of public transport, beating the odds to help people in
need. These people brave the possibility of virus in their surroundings and continue to serve the
people in situations they are mostly needed.

The outbreak of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) is much more than the word
‘outbreak’ as it is. It is actually more likely a world war, but instead of countries fighting against
each other, they are faced with an unseen enemy. And instead of soldiers in camouflage, the
main line of defense are medical practitioners wearing masks and other protective suits. Thus,
these fearless frontliners are those people who I consider to be the heroes of our present times.
No amount of thank you greetings can parallel the service exerted by these heroes of ours.
