GREETINGS
Grace and peace to you all in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We are grateful to
God the Almighty for bringing us this far, we say Ebenezer. We congratulate each one of you
upon completing year 2015. Serving the Vulnerable children is not an easy task it takes the
grace of God. We are therefore thankful to all our Donors, partners, friends, the board of Siita
Nest , the Staff and the government of Uganda for the selfless service they have rendered to
see that these children become fulfilled citizens. May God Bless you mightily

GENERAL REPORT
As an organization coming this far amidst challenges has not been our strength but God’s grace
and unfailing mercies. We are ending the year with a total number of 307 children in the
organization with 60 that are residents. We have had a number of activities that were carried
out through the year and these include the following;

EDUCATION
We are glad to report that all the 307 children attended school. We had 21 children that sat for
Primary Leaving Examination, 15 sat for Uganda Certificate of Education and 11 sat for Uganda
Advanced Certificate of Education. The rest of the children sat for their end of year
examinations successfully and their performances was really encouraging as exhibited from
their report cards, although much more effort is still needed

We also had two students that completed their studies and graduated at different levels, i.e
Fred Wetaka graduated with a second Class degree in Child Development and Children’s
Ministry from Uganda Christian University Mukono and Gideon Mukyake, with a certificate in
Catering and Hotel Management from Nile Vocational Institute. We congratulate our children
for the great achievement and for lifting our banner high, not watering down our efforts, we
really appreciate God who paved away where seemed to be no way.

The revision program has also moved on smoothly throughout the year for the children that
commute at the home and it has been running every day from Monday to Saturday from
7:00pm to 8:00pm to help boost their performance and also to help them compete favorably
with those in boarding section.

We appreciate so much all our donors, friends and partners for the support they have given
towards children’s education, not forgetting the school authorities that worked tirelessly to see
that our children perform well and more so allowing them to study even when their school fees
was not yet paid, thank you for being patient and considerate.

The support normally is not enough to cover all school fees for all the children at once
therefore we have been paying children’s fees in installments even this year they have
resumed school with debts from last term 2015.

School Fees Structure

The new organization’s school fees structure is as follows;

HEALTH
We did not register any major cases of illness apart from Olivia Vivian Nabukonde who went
through Ambrical Hernia operation at Mulago National referral Hospital in June. The operation
was successful and the girl is now okay. We thank God the Almighty for saving Vivian’s life.

We registered sicknesses in other children like malaria, flu, common colds and cough which
were handled by the home nurse and for severe cases we referred the children to the regional
hospital. All the children recovered and were able to resume school on time.

In addition, all children of five years and below were immunized of polio and received vitamin A
through government immunization program. Thanks to the government of Uganda for that
service. A health Care hand book was obtained that is “Where there is no Doctor” which has
served to give guidance on how to give first aid to children and other persons that would
require assistance.

Concerning general hygiene and sanitation in the home, we appreciate the concerned staff
spear heading the campaign to ensure all children are hygienically clean as well as their
environment. The hygiene and sanitation in the home has greatly improved thus making the
home a safe and comfort place for our children and those that live in it. We continue to
encourage those that are concerned to keep up the spirit and the children in particular to
continue to stay clean, thus with time we shall completely do away with health complications
related to poor hygiene and sanitation.

However, we need new mosquito nets to help reduce on malaria cases because the old ones
are worn out and torn.

FEEDING AND WELFARE

All resident children had three meals a day that is breakfast, lunch and supper with a good
balanced diet. We have had enough maize corn from last year’s season and it lasted until this
year’s first season. Therefore we only incurred costs in milling the maize and purchasing rice,
beans and other food supplements.

Though we rent out land to be able to grow maize, we pray that God provides us with our own
land where we can grow enough food not only maize, as this will help to reduce on the high
costs incurred on feeding

Concerning welfare which includes children’s’ clothing and beddings, things like soap, sanitary
pads, tooth paste etc, these were provided though with some challenges majorly in providing
clothing’s and beddings. These are very expensive and yet the funding we receive is not enough
to cater for education, feeding, utilities, welfare, staff remuneration etc we therefore pray for
more provision in as far as children’s welfare is concerned.

STAFFING
A new Administrative Structure for the organization was made by the Board of Siita Nest thus
creating new departments to replace the old ones which were Administrator and Assistant
Administrator.

Three of the staff were trained in April of this year in Financial Management by Mrs. Dorothy
Nakato Mubezi who by then had not become a staff for the organization. This helped to boost
all those that were trained with financial management skills.

Also two of our staff that is the Finance and Administration Manager and the Social Worker
attended training on child rehabilitation which took place in Kampala Namirembe Cathedral for
five Months. The training was organized by Crane, a network organization which we subscribe
to as member. The training is still on going until March 2016 and we are glad to report that
Crane subsidized the training by paying most of the costs and each participating organization
was required to take two staff to attend.

Depending on the report that we have got so far from the two staff that are attending, the
training is very good in as far as child nurturing and development is concerned. The two staff
have began to train the rest of Siita Nest staff on what they have acquired so that each member
of staff is able to get the skills as we focus on our future plans of the vocational centre.

SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM

We have 307 children on the sponsorship and of these we have 40 resident children. The rest of
the children are staying with their parents/guardians. At the beginning of the year we had 60
resident children but with the government call to alternative care plan, 20 children were
resettled thus remaining with 40 children. We shall continue to resettle more depending on the
vulnerability status so as to create space for new children. The resettlement however led to the
increased community visitations and doing a lot of follow ups and checking, also supporting,
counseling and evangelism in the community. We accessed the need of a vocational center, for
this sub county has a total of twelve villages with a great need for intervention.

Care Orders/ court orders for all the 40 resident children were processed and these children are
to be fostered for three years renewable depending on the vulnerability status.

Because of the over whelming number of children on the list with financial constraints in the
organization, we hope not to recruit new children but to establish a Siita Heart Of The
Community vocational centre to empower the community with the skills for development and
self reliance.

In addition, Seminars for children were organized twice that is during the first term Holiday and
Second term holiday. In these seminars different topics were taught and majorly the staff
handled them because there was no money to pay for facilitators to come and teach. We are
grateful to all the staff and board members who sacrificed their time to come and teach the
children. These seminars brought a positive change in the children’s’ lives more so the spiritual
and social part of their lives were lifted up.

The discipline of children has been generally good and we did not register any indiscipline case
this year. We extend our thanks to those concerned for making sure that discipline is
maintained and special thanks to our children for not a shaming and letting us down. Please
keep up the good spirit.

ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT

All government meetings were attended by our Social workers and team who brought report/
proceedings of these meetings. However the major issue that was being discussed in most of
these meetings was the need to put in place alternative care plan and child resettlement which
we have responded to as an organization to have the Siita Heart of the Community vocational
centre.

In addition, staff management meetings were organized and the turn up was good. In these
meetings staff were able to give reports from their respective departments, share challenges,
way forward and then in every meeting staff were being encouraged to keep up the spirit of
Prayers which are normally carried out on a daily basis before work starts. The meetings
created a sense of team work, love, unity and helped to keep the staff on the Vision and
Mission of the organization.

Parents/Guardians meetings were also organized to help update the parents on the new
changes that were taking place in the organization due to the new government orders and laws.
In these meetings parents/guardians were further encouraged to love their children, visit them
both in the home and at school so as to create the attachment and bond with their children.

The parents/guardians were further more briefed on the need of participating in the lives of
their children and contributing towards their well being like scholastic materials, moral
behavior in society. They were informed that the organization is facing some financial
challenges due to the overwhelming number of children with limited funding. They were
informed that because of this and the new government call, changes were made in as far as
school fees structure for the organization is concerned.

These seminars were organized both in Jinja and Sironko districts so as to cater for all
parents/guardians and resettled children. We thank the Chairman of Siita Nest Board for he
played a big role in helping to emphasize that the organization was taking a new direction.
Because of his presence in the last meeting that was organized both in Jinja and Sironko
districts parents/guardians were all convinced and responded positively and also the idea of a
vocational centre.

EVENTS OF THE YEAR

The Day of African Child (DAC) which is a government program organized every year in June
was attended fully by our children. They also participated by performing in poems and songs.

The organization also had two children complete education and a graduation ceremony was
organized for Fred wetaka who graduated in August with a Second class upper degree in Child
Development and Children’s’ Ministry which he obtained from Uganda Christian University
Mukono Campus. Gideon Mukyake also graduated and obtained a Certificate in Catering and
Hotel Management from Nile Vocational Institute in October.

Lastly, we had a wedding ceremony for one of the Alumni of Siita Nest and this is Moses
Kisakye. His wedding was glamorous and it took place on the 24 th-07-2015 at Saints Cathedral,

Bugembe and the after party was at Mayor’s Gardens located at Jinja Town Hall. All Siita Nest
family enjoyed and gave thanks to God for what He did for Moses.

NEW DEVELOPMENTS/ACHIEVEMENTS

At the beginning of this year we had a team from YWAM Wylie that came through Streams of
Mercy led by Bruce Bauman break the ground for the long time dream of the pre-school. This
team came in January and they were able to pay for the approved architectural plan for the
pre-school, did ground breaking and fixing of pillars in the ditches. This team worked tirelessly
and together with our older children, they did tremendous work and we were left speechless.
However, since they came with little funds they did what they could and promised to do more
fundraising to see that they get money enough to complete the project.

The main house and the boys’ dormitories were renovated so as to improve on the living
condition as per the Health inspector’s recommendation.

Lastly, a new water liter tank of 2,300 capacities was constructed to help harvest rain water
during the rainy seasons. The plastic water tanks were worn out and an able to hold water. The
old tank was also renovated and these two tanks have helped to reduce on the expenses
incurred on water bills mostly during the rainy season. Grate thanks to all those friends and
partners who contributed towards the construction of these water tanks.

CHALLENGES FACED

At the beginning of the year, the organization lost a very important person and that is our
grandmother the late Edith Mugide the mother to Maama Alice Kisolo and Mr. Samuel Kisolo.
The deceased had a heart problem which she struggled with for almost two years. Her death
was a big blow to the family of Mr. William Kisolo and Siita Nest as organization because she
was such an innovative, a spiritual giant whose spiritual life encouraged many believers and a
role model to those around her. As an organization, we shall always miss her but we hope to
see her again in eternity. MAY HER SOUL REST IN PEACE!!!!

We further faced a challenge of limited funding with an over whelming number of children on
sponsorship. This was a challenge in that we were not in position to meet school dues on time,
some children received just half of the fees as per the new organization’s fees structure and
others did not get at all. Because of the limited funding, some of the activities were not done as
per the organization’s expectations. However, next year we hope to put in place more
mechanisms of generating income for example establishment of an IGA project for
sustainability, networking and creation of partnerships with different companies and

institutions to get scholarships, strengthening the children’s music project which can help to
fundraise.

Land for Agriculture:

The organization spends a lot of money in purchasing food items year in and out since there is
no other alternative. We therefore have been hiring a piece of land from the dioceses to grow
food crops like maize and beans but still due to high demand, it is not enough. We therefore
look forward to having our own land where we can grow enough crops to reduce on the
expenditure and also to ascertain sustainability of the organization. We also intend to use this
as a training ground for the children to acquire agricultural skills which can help them to be self
reliant.

Home Van:

The organization is challenged when it comes to transporting children back to school. A lot of
money is spent in transporting children to and from school. In addition, the organization
struggles when the children get sick to see that they are taken to hospital on time. We also face
difficulties in shopping for food, scholastic materials etc. Therefore, we shall be very much
relieved if we acquire a minibus.

Vocational School:

The organization has for a long time wanted to start up a vocational school for both the
organization children and those in the community but we have been incapacitated due to lack
of funds. The school is going to help train our children in skills that will help them become job
creators thus self reliant.

It will further help to reduce on the high education costs spent on vocation and college
students.

The organization has been struggling to support children in vocation and institutions because
they are many and without sponsorship.

It will also act as an income generating project since we have community children also training
there. In the same way it will help create employment for our children and the community.

UPCOMING EVENTS
SNMLH | Web site: WWW.siitanestmother’slovehome.org
P a g e | 10

The organization has organized a get together/home coming and Thanks giving event where we
expect all children that have been supported by Siita Nest to come and share their success
stories, testimonies, life experiences and celebrate the far God has brought us. The event will
take place on 3rd 01 2016 and we are expecting a total number of 600(six hundred) guests.
These will include the alumni with their families for those who have got families, the currently
sponsored children, the parents/guardians, some of the donors, partners and friends of Siita
Nest, the head teachers of some of the schools where our children have attended school, some
of the church leaders who have mentored these children spiritually, the area Local Council
authorities etc

Since its inception, Siita Nest has seen 115 children go through school and we want to have all
these children come back and we give thanks to the Almighty God for the far He has brought us.
Siita Nest will be blessing these children this day and the alumni will share what is like to grow
up in Siita Nest, what helped them to succeed in their education which we hope will help to
encourage the children that are still in the organization to also work hard to be able to succeed.

VOTE OF THANKS
We are highly indebted to the staff, the children, the Executive Board, our beloved Donors,
Partners, Friends and well wishers of Siita Nest Mother’s Love Home for their selfless and
tremendous work and efforts rendered to see that the Vision and Mission of the organization is
achieved. Without all your contributions, it would have been inevitable to come this far. May
God the ABBA FATHER bless the work of all your hands and we encourage each one of you to
remain standing with us as we strive to empower the vulnerable children physically, socially,
spiritually and academically so as to build a strong, independent and morally upright future
generation.
