Service Announcement: Covid-19

April 28, 2020

At the time we are rolling out this update, there are over 3,060,000 confirmed cases
of Covid-19 worldwide as reported by the Johns Hopkins University.

While the majority of affected countries have taken bold measures to mitigate the
spread of the Coronavirus, some are now considering whether the measures should
be eased – whereas others have decided to keep them in place for more weeks, until
June 2020.

With the ongoing spread of the outbreak, the Singapore University of Technology
and Design has updated its data-driven estimates of outbreak end dates as at today
and based on same, the pandemic is expected to end up to 99% by mid-June 2020
and completely by December 2020.

Our team continues to evaluate the situation, especially about easing measures
being taken to facilitate continuous movements in global supply chains for our
customers worldwide.

While we are on wait of new policies being put in place by various governments
ending their lockdown period as from next week, please find below an update of the
situation in the territories we are present and some power trade lanes:

Mauritius

Though the sea port is operating on a 24/7 schedule and containers are gating in and
out of the terminals, the situation at the airport is much different – with adhoc flights
deployed by various airlines.

As such, in an effort to meet cargo requirements, while many of those flights are
catering for health and medical needs on a priority basis, we are also endeavouring
to have both inbound and outbound cargo moved on a situational basis.

We therefore reiterate to customers to reach out to our teams for notifying about
any backlogged shipments.

France

Earlier today, the French Prime Minister has revealed the government’s plans to ease
the nationwide lockdown on May 11, 2020. The plan, which also includes digital
innovations in an attempt to contain the outbreak will now be subject to a debate at
the National Assembly, followed by a vote.

On another note, the Velogic France team has worked over the weekend in order to
facilitate the transport of 1,000 kg of reagents to Mauritius, necessary for the Covid-
19 diagnostic.
The collaborators in France are endeavouring in supporting the healthcare industry
with the import of PPEs to France as well as the export of reagents and other
pharmaceutical products globally.

Kenya

In a letter addressed to the Kenya Ports Authority, the Federation of East African
Freight Forwarders Association has requested to have the free storage period
increased to 14 days for domestic cargo and 21 days for transit cargo.

This request is based on various circumstances linked to the delay in receipt of

original commercial documents due to flight suspensions, reduced efficiency
resulting from the reduced workforce by Revenue Authorities, Port Authorities, ICDs,
CFSs, shipping lines, Standard Bureaus, Commercial Banks as well as the lockdowns
by EAC partner states and the night curfew, amongst others.

Bangladesh

With no major change on the logistics side, Chittagong port continues to operate
24/7, limiting the risk of any possible congestion, as initially forecasted due to
uncleared import containers. Berth occupancy, which used to be 72 hours has
reached up to 6-9 days.
