Job title: Senior Finance Manager

Reports to: Managing Director

1. Job Description

We are looking for an outstanding Senior Finance Manager, to join the Finance Department based in Kuala

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree or a professional degree in accounting or finance with
strong technical skills in IFRS and MFRS. Knowledge of ERP system plus is required and possessing a
Certificate of Attendance from the Royal Malaysian Customs on Malaysia’s Goods and Services Tax Act
practices is a prerequisite.

As Senior Finance Manager, you will report to the Managing Director and a leader in the finance team to
ensure smooth running of the entire finance operations as well as being responsible for Financial Reporting
and Financial Planning and Analysis. You will also be responsible for Income Tax and Goods and Services
Tax (GST) reconciliation and submission to the authorities. You will be working with the Internal and External
Auditors on yearly basis as well as the company’s tax agents.

The ideal candidate for this position is a team player, with excellent people and communication skills, positive
attitude towards uncertainty and ambiguity environment of a start-up. We are looking for demonstrated
passion and experience in working with multiple stakeholders from Asian business communities.

2. Key Responsibilities

Financial Operations

● You will be responsible and have an oversight role for the finance team’s duties and responsibilities
that includes Accounts Payables, Account Receivables, Fixed Assets, Cash Management, General
Ledger and Reconciliation.
● You are required to have a working knowledge of withholding tax relating to services performed by a
non-resident.
Financial Reporting

● Perform monthly and Yearly accounting closing


● Review monthly reconciliation worksheets, reports and analysis in support of the MD.
● Review and draft monthly CFP report.
● Review monthly expense analysis.
● Review year-end financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with MFRS.
● Coordinate Year-end signing off final accounts and lodgement of annual returns
● Attend monthly bursar meeting with finance team and Management team.
● Research and comment on significant accounting treatments and liaise external auditors to their
comments.

Finance Planning & Analysis

● Prepare full year forecast and compare to budget/funding, provide scenario forecasting to the MD.
● Prepare baseline budget for the organization.
● With the MD coordinate the budgeting process with the divisions
● Review consolidated budget prepared by Finance Executive for next financial year.
● Prepare for financial information requested by stakeholders upon the request from MD.

Internal & External Audit

● Responsible for managing the process of annual audit review.


● Liaison with auditors for audit planning and monitor the entire audit process.
● Discuss and resolve audit and accounting issues in cooperation with auditors.
● Set timeline/requirements for departments in cooperation with auditors to ensure audit is smoothly
run.
● Review and discuss with auditors and finance team all non-adjusted audit errors and issues raises in
management improvement letter, if any.
● Submission of annual returns upon audit completion.

Income Tax & GST

● You will be the liaison person with the nominated tax agent for Tax Audit and Submission for income
tax.
● Responsible for working with income tax agent to submit financial data and explanation where
required.
● Review and discuss taxation issues with income tax agent to resolve.
● You will be in-charge of reviewing GST reconciliation and submission.
● Keeping up to date on tax matters to various channels.

3. Requirements

● The candidate must possess at least Bachelor’s degree/Post graduate/Professional Degree in


Finance/Accounting.
● Strong decision making and judgement skills.
● Demonstrate experience of understanding/interpreting data and identifying anomalies.
● Strong analytical skills and an attention to details.
● The ability to apply knowledge and skills of accounting principles to a new environment.
● Demonstrate experience of identifying where processes can be improved and developing appropriate
solutions.
● A “Can Do “attitude with the drive to find a way of achieving a solution / desired result.
● Diligent with the ability to work under pressure to meet Senior Management requirements.
● Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
● Excellent in spoken and written English and fluent in spoken and written Bahasa Malaysia.
