Reflection

As a part of our IBRP module, we were assigned to conduct a research that followed the research
proposal we wrote in our previous semester. After the completion of this research paper, I have now been
able to involve my engagement in a highly motivating and challenging research experience. My skills and
learning statement reflecting the implications of my research experience has been represented in the
following texts that will allow me to exercise this knowledge for my personal and professional
development.

The reflective paper on my skills and learning comprises of the implications of feedback sessions and
interactions with my teacher, an evaluation of the extent to which the research questions have been
answered, along with the contribution of the research experience in my personal and professional
development.

Initially, we were introduced to various research methods to carry out our project with some sample
papers as reference/example that included the important factors which were supposed to be added in our
research to make it more effective. To make sure everybody was on the same page, our teacher had asked
us to present our previous research proposal and given us feedback as to what needs to be added and
improved. The following classes were then dedicated to question/answer and feedback sessions to keep
track of our progress. The answers in my research questions were addressed effectively as the secondary
data were obtained from reliable sources such as business journals, past research papers, annual reports,
newspapers, etc. A relevant methodology had been chosen and the research findings were also discussed
critically. The choice of research methods to carry out the study was assisted by the reliability of the data
analysis methods and their significance to the research topic. After evaluating the appropriate
methodology for my study and considering the advices from my teacher, I chose to include various
analytic tools and equations such as ANOVA (Analysis of variance), descriptive statistics, correlation and
econometric equation in my research report.

Conducting the research paper has enabled me to be more competent professionally in several ways as
this has allowed me to develop a critical mindset towards dealing with various organizational issues. It
was made clear to us to analyze the related issues in the report critically instead of just offering
descriptive information of the issues and following calculations. Therefore, I had to thoroughly revise my
research paper to ensure that my discussions were appropriate and critically analyzed. Although it may
have seemed to be very challenging during the process, the skills and knowledge developed of critical
analysis that I have applied in this research can also be implied when real business issues would need to
be resolved in my future professional level. As the completion of the research report was quite similar to
project management in a real organizational environment as there were deadlines, limited resources,
planning and organizing, presenting and scheduling meetings, etc. these skills that I have developed can
further be used while managing business projects in the future. Moreover, writing the research proposal
and report has made me more confident to carry out my final year dissertation as I now have a strong base
and knowledge on conducting research critically that includes various elements responsible for the
completion and effectiveness of the study.
In addition, my writing skills have also been improved as a result of thoroughly engaging in the research
report. My personal and professional interest on the issues associated with my topic has also developed in
the process. Therefore, conducting this research has made me more aware about the digital divide in our
country and how it can be bridged one step at a time by the use of Information Communication
Technology (ICT).

To sum it all up, the completion of this research report has increased and enhanced by level of
preparedness to carry out the dissertation that I will need in my final year, further studies as well as in my
career. As a matter of fact, I have gained a set of personal and professional rewards by completing the
research paper such as the development of a critical and broader mindset, time management skills,
improvement of writing skills and enhancement of self-confidence to carry out further research in the
future.
