1. Differentiate theory x and theory y on the nature of man and work.

ANSWER:

1. Theory X which indicates a set of assumptions that an average worker is


motivated to satisfy their own needs and not to contribute to the
fulfilment of organisational goals. Conversely, Theory Y is based on the
assumption that an average human being is motivated towards growth
and development and they contribute to the achievement of
organisational goals.
2. Theory X assumes that an employee dislikes work, while theory Y
presupposes that work is natural for employees.
3. Theory X says that employees are unambitious, whereas the employees
are highly ambitious says Theory Y.
4. As per theory X, it has been inferred that people do not like taking
responsibilities and avoids it to the extent possible. On the other hand,
theory Y infers that people accept and seek responsibility.
5. The leadership style adopted by the management, in the case of theory
X is autocratic. As against, democratic leadership style is adopted in the
case of theory Y.
6. In theory X, it is assumed that employees require constant supervision
and direction. In contrast, in theory Y, the assumption is that employees
do not need much supervision for the completion of the task and also in
the accomplishment of organisational objectives.
7. Theory X is characterised by tight external control on the employees,
whereas theory Y features leniency in control.
8. According to theory X, there is complete centralization of authority, in
the organisation, i.e. the power lies in the hands of the top executives.
Unlike, decentralisation of authority is presumed in theory Y, which
involves employees participation in management and decision-making.
9. The element of self-motivation is absent, as per theory X, but present in
theory Y.
10. On the basis of theory X, employees stresses on Psychological
needs and Security needs. In contrast, based on theory Y, employees
concentrates on Social needs, esteem needs and self-actualization needs.
2. A company's social responsibility determines the company's success over
a long run. If yes why?

ANSWER: Yes, because one of the bottom line of CSR is to cultivate a positive
brand recognition, increase customer loyalty, and attract top-tier
employees. And also for the sustainability of the company.

Trying to understand Filipino behavior would lead you understand how Filipino
managers emerged. What are these behavioral patterns and how it helps
successful Filipino managers?

ANSWER: The behavioral patterns of Filipino that can help as a successful


managers are:

Empathy, To be empathetic means to have the ability to identify with


individuals judiciously. It can help to be a successful Filipino manager because
it will give a chance to look after their fellow countrymen, and one thing for
sure a Filipino are very social being, so it will help to a Filipino managers.

Humility, One great definition of humility is that it is “not thinking less of


yourself; it is thinking of yourself less.” Instead of placing your conveniences
dead center in every project, you become more mission-oriented. In turn, your
team gains the same focus and a clearer picture of where all of you ought to go.
Meaning it can inspire our employees to work with mission in mind. And it can
hep to become a successful Filipino manager too.

Servant Leadership, As the famous saying goes, “No man is an island entire of
itself; every man is a piece of the continent.” This is true for any group, and it
is especially applicable when it comes to professional organizations and their
leaders.

Being a servant leader means you remember that you are part of a community.
Not only will this combat crab mentality, but it will ultimately promote a
culture of pakikisama. Nobody is too good to do all the work, and it is all for
one as it is one for all—even at the top.

It can help you successful as a Filipino manager if you practice of being a


servant leadership and it has been shown to increase a leader’s influence in
producing more thoughtful and balanced group decisions—
ultimately promoting trust and a culture of learning in the workplace. When it
comes down to it, there's no better act of service than a leader who empowers
others through his own actions.
Be Aware of Filipino Time, meaning you should learn how to impose the
value of timeliness. This is because of the tendency of Filipinos to hand in their
work late.

Leaders have higher chances of success by adopting these qualities that bring
out the best side of being a manager in their companies. To be a successful
manager is to assemble a strong and stable management team.
