Journey of Mr. Zakir Ali:

Mr. Zakir Ali has started his journey in late 80’s as a helper in battery repairing shop in
Karimabad (Karachi) market and after around 9-10 year’s he entered in UPS
(Uninterruptible power supply) market and learned installation & repairing work & after
9 years and having strong knowledge on UPS in 2007 he start selling branded UPS, after
positive respond from market in 2008 he started a Company with the name of Inverex
and start manufacturing in China with the name of his company and expand his business
in across Pakistan.

Leadership Traits:

Mr. Zakir Ali always focused on his goals and setting objectives how to achieve goals
with limit resource. He always focused on one thing he knows best, which is
advancement and innovation in solar energy. He worked hard to dominate his industry.
Mr. Zakir also takes practically possible approaches to setting goals & he keeps big
picture in mind. Mr. Zakir uses step by step based approaches to make progress towards
his vision. And he always thinking to achieve his vision through creativity & innovation
& for this he always encouraged himself and his people to embrace creativity. His
leadership style works to empower people & he believes “if you have strong team of
efficient & innovative employees so you can easily achieve your goals”.

Mr. Zakir Ali believes on empowering employees and focused on team oriented culture
in Inverex, Moreover, Mr. Zakir pulls his team together and work towards a common
goal.

After discussion with Mr. Zakir, I realized Mr. Zakir is much possessive in team
orientation culture, innovation & advance technology.

Leadership Style:

Mr. Zakir is having more autocratic leadership style believes in the value of input from
his employees for overall company success. The driving force behind the success of
Inverex is the enthusiastic and hardworking attitude of Mr. Zakir. He understands that in
business you will have fluctuations and changes that you must adapt to in order to
succeed.

Leadership Confidence:

Mr. Zakir Khan said: To be an effective leader, you should be confident enough to ensure
that other follow your commands. If you are unsure about your own decisions and
qualities, then your subordinates will never follow you. As a leader, you have to be build
confidence, show some your leadership qualities to gain the respect of your staff.
Moreover, he said; you should at least reflect the required confidence to ensure that your
followers trust you as a leader.

Empowerment of Employees:

Mr. Zakir Ali believes I cannot do everything alone & I always involve senior team
members in decision making meetings. If you empowering your followers/team members
so it’s mean, ultimately you’re developing trust level between employee & leader In
result, your employees converting into loyal employees & they always put their 100% to
achieve your company objectives. Moreover, Mr. Zakir said Leaders should develop
empathy with their followers. Unfortunately, if you’re dictatorial style leader and not
understanding your employee’s problems so you may not get any loyal employees who
thinks about your company. Understanding the problems of your followers and feeling
their pain is the first step to become an effective leader.

Business Improvement Strategies of Mr. Zakir Ali:

- Professional Development: Make the commitment to learn and study what’s new
in your field
- High Quality Products & Services: Mr. Zakir said quality is everything when it
comes to high quality we’re providing high quality imported products from China
& Austria to beat our competitors & provide customers with high quality products
at the same price as our competitors.

Leadership Ethics & Values:

Mr. Zakir Ali believes that he has few qualities that good leaders possess. He has a clear
vision, an ability to motivate trust, and a passion for his company and its people. In fact
Mr. Zakir made sure that every staff member of the company believed in the same vision.
This created a higher purpose for the company that led to the value ethics between
employee & leaders. Moreover, Mr. Zakir said he always try to being a transparent
person & try handle everyone according to their nature of job & company post.

Risk Taking:

I found Mr. Zakir Ali is a risk taker leader because in his leadership Inverex is
continuously developing new products & increasing product line, although he knows the
economic conditions of Pakistan very well but he said if you want to make business in
Pakistan then you should take risks & introduce new technology items in Pakistan to
increase your numbers in sale & creating taught competition with your competitors,
Moreover he said, we have to take risk in our life, but we must make sure that the risk
should be calculated & recover easily if you face any losses.

Learned from mistakes & Learn from other:

He says he learned a lot from his past & continuously learning, he said, he starts his
career as a helper in local shop & from day one he started learning and try to overcome

his mistakes & now as a company leader he never stop learning, he admitted sometime
myself as a leader makes mistake while taking decision so it’s normally its happened, he
also added, I learned a lot of things from senior management & sometimes young &
energetic students, he also said that  If you don’t see any results while working towards a
certain goal, then you should take advice from the other and try to learn from them.
Sometimes, a little help is all you need to achieve success.

Current Challenges as a Leader:

- According to Mr. Zakir, every leader face different challenges in organization,


some challenges are internally & some are external challenges. Like he said,
Politics in Pakistan & Government rules & policies are one of most impactful
challenges he faced, just like increasing Import duties & tax system made it so
challenging for the organization to give products on low prices.
- The rapidly changing technology and innovation in every aspect of business give
tough time to organization and corporations to adapt to technological changes and
innovation.
- He also said that organizational success is human resources. Organizations face
challenges to hiring the right talent, develop the human resource for job and future
work to be productive and effective.

- Encourage Teamwork.
- Healthy office environment.

Message for Young Leaders:

Young leader should think long before taking a decision but once the decision is taken,
stand by it. Although, although if you’re young and unexperienced so it’s highly
recommended that you take consultation with your seniors before taking a decision
