Course The Innovation and Entrepreneurship program provides students


Description with the unique skills necessary to conceptualize develop and
manage modern innovations. Designed at the intersection of
education, business and entrepreneurship, the program combines
rigorous academic study and practical coursework, giving students
critical tools to chart entrepreneurial solutions in education. The
program builds hands-on understanding through a practical
experience and a culminating capstone project. And hence, this
course “Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management” orients the
learner in understanding the concept and it motivates them to
become entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs as they will be able to
understand career opportunities in Entrepreneurship and its
benefits.
Using tools and techniques of business models and business plans,
Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management course makes
students capable to assess firms' present and future performance.
Further, this course seeks to trigger students' entrepreneurial spirit
and develop their innovative skills for enhancing their
entrepreneurial activity in the global economy

Delivery of this course comprises of project work, business plan


development, and games lectures, experiencing the applications,
case studies and class discussions in order to understand
entrepreneurial opportunities.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

 The subject aims to provide the learners with a thorough theoretical understanding of
managerial concepts of innovation and entrepreneurship.
 Develops ability to identify / create entrepreneurial opportunities through the innovation and
exploitation of entirely new ideas, products and services and/or the creation of new
industries, infrastructures, and ways of doing business.

COURSE OUTCOMES: At the completion of the course, students will be able to exhibit:

 CO1- Identify problems worth solving by the application of key concepts of innovation
learned in classroom. (BT 3)
 CO2- Learn key concepts underpinning entrepreneurship and its application in the
recognition and exploitation of opportunities. (BT 1)
 CO3- Design creative strategies for pursuing, exploiting and further developing new
opportunities (BT 4)
 CO4- Analyze Issues associated with securing and managing financial resources in new and
established organizations. (BT )
 CO5- Be able to present effectively both orally and in writing with the application of
technology. (BT5)

Module 3: INNOVATION MANAGEMENT- Innovation, Characteristics of Innovation,
Innovation vs Invention, Types of Innovation, Innovation Process, Innovation Strategy,
Barriers to Innovation.

Module 4: FEASIBILITY ANALYSIS AND CRAFTING BUSINESS PLAN - Feasibility


analysis of Industry, Product or service business, Finance for new startups, Business
Plan-Meaning, Significance, Business Plan-Contents, Business Plan – Formulation,
Business Plan – Presentation, Common errors in Business Plan formulation.

Module 5: LEGAL FORMS OF ENTREPRENEURIAL ORGANIZATIONS - Identifying


legal structures, Selection of an appropriate legal structure, Sole proprietorships,
Partnerships, Companies, Companies under section 25, Franchising, Legal
environment – patents, copyrights, trademarks.

Module 6: SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP - Introduction, Meaning, Perspective of


social entrepreneurship, Social entrepreneurship in practice, Boundaries of Social
entrepreneurship.
