Description

The air-cooled roller is used when the web


becomes overheated as a result of UV
drying.

The item is fitted to base frame BG 10


(overall length 610 mm) above the UV
drying unit (type MD4).

3.1 Operating elements

2 deflection roller axle

3 pipe connection

4 front plate (BG 10)

5 rear plate (BG 10)

3. Operation

3.2 Setting up

When fitting the cooling roller to base When these steps have been taken,
frame BG 10, please proceed as follows: preparation of your base frame BG 10 has
been completed. You can now fit UV
• Lift air-cooled roller 1 into base frame drying unit type MD4 under the air-cooled
BG 10 roller.

Note:
Pipe connection 3 must be passed
through the 85 mm hole drilled in rear
plate 5.

• Secure deflection roller axle 2 to front


and rear plates 4 and 5 respectively
with the two close tolerance bolts
• Connect the pipe connection to your
exhaust air system.

Note:
Pipe connection 3 has an outside
diameter of 50 mm.
If you have several air-cooled rollers in
use, we recommend using a manifold or
collection pipe.

3.3 Inserting web

To ensure correct functioning, it is


essential that the run of the web
corresponds to the above sketch.

3. Operation

3.4 Setting

The cooling effect of the cooling roller


depends on various factors, e.g. air flow
etc., so that we are not able to make any
recommendations at this stage.

3.5 Starting up

After all the necessary settings have been


carried out, the printing machine can be
run up to the desired production speed.

Note:
Run mode can only be started when all
guards have been fitted to the printing
machine.

4. Care and maintenance

4.1 Qualification of staff

Cleaning and maintenance work may only


be performed by staff who are familiar
with the machine (see "General safety
instructions", item 1.1.5 "Responsibility of
staff" at the beginning of this manual).

4.2 Care

The cooling roller should be thoroughly


cleaned after every job. It should be
cleaned with a soft cloth soaked in solvent

Caution:
Risk of damaging the cooling roller.
Cooling roller 1 must never be cleaned
with sharp or pointed objects.
