Description
The water-cooled roller is used when the
web becomes overheated as a result of UV
drying.

The item is fitted to base frame BG 10


(overall length 610 mm) above UV drying
unit type MD 4.

3. Operation

3.2 Setting up

When fitting the cooling roller to base When these steps have been taken,
frame BG 10 please proceed as follows: preparation of your base frame BG 10 has
been completed. You can now fit UV
• Using the four close-tolerance bolts, drying unit type MD4 under the cooling
secure bearing blocks 2 to the inside of roller.
front and rear plates 5 and 6 of base
frame BG 10.
• Lift cooling roller 1 into base frame BG
10.
• Secure cooling roller 1 against being
lifted out by screwing bearing blocks 3
onto bearing blocks 2.
• Screw the double lead-in 4 to cooling
roller1.
• Connect double lead-in 4 to your cooling
water circulation system

Note:
Please pay attention to the connections
of the double lead-in.

3. Operation

3.4 Setting

The flow and thus the cooling intensity of


cooling roller 1 can be set at the stop
valves.

3.5 Starting up

Before the cooling roller is used for the


first time, it must be vented. Please
proceed as follows:

• Close the stop valve on the outlet side.


• Open the stop valve on the inlet side.
• Turn cooling roller 1 until the vent is at
the top and open this. After cooling
roller 1 has been completely vented, the
vent must be reclosed.

4. Care and maintenance

4.1 Qualification of staff

Cleaning and maintenance work may only


be performed by staff who are familiar
with the machine (see "General safety
instructions", item 1.1.5 "Responsibility of
staff" at the beginning of this manual).

4.2 Care

The cooling roller should be thoroughly


cleaned after every job. It should be
cleaned with a soft cloth soaked in
solvent.

Caution:
Risk of damaging the cooling roller. It
must never be cleaned with sharp or
pointed objects.

4.3 Maintenance

Cooling roller 1 should be checked for


leakage weekly, i.e. after every 40
operating hours.
