Introduction

This document provides general set up guidelines and instructions for performing the Electro-
Magnetic Imager Tool (EMIT-A) Practical Assessment as a simulation at base during the “Execute”
phase to ensure consistency in the way the assessment is performed at all locations.

The option of simulation can only be used in the following situations:

 To fulfill “Maintain” requirements.

All steps to be done during this assessment has to be following the Electro-Magnetic Imager Tool
(EMIT-A) SWI.

Estimated time to complete this assessment is 165 minutes.

HSE Requirements

A. During the assessment full PPE must be used.

B. Specific location HSE procedures must be followed.

Technical Assessment

1. RECOMMENDED SET UP:

 Electro-Magnetic log or logs that describe characteristic EMIT responses specific to the
location’s basin and client SOP.
 Logging unit with installed logging head for logging cable operation or check area
prepare for logging cable operation.
 For EMIT-A only: EMMS-A, EMXS-A, EMIS-A, PBMS and PSTC
 EMIT accessories (Grease Pump, DClll grease, and Slip-over Centralizer, etc).

2. Performing the Mock of a EMIT job following the SWI Execute steps

A. Section 3.1. Confirm Logging Program and Well Data with Client

The Assessor to provide previous EMIT logging program to the assesse and ensure that:
 Ask about scrapper run, or gauge run.
 Understand and review the logging program.
 Ask about WHE requirement.
 Review tool planner for the job

B. Section 3.2. Prepare Acquisition Software

Perform tasks 1 through 6

C. Section 3.3. Do the Wellsite Operational Check

This section is to be performed with the tool in the horizontal position as described in section 2.10.

The assessor must ensure that the assesse:

 Emphasis tool orientation when connecting tool to avoid damaging pins.
 Explain and differentiate between FCO-1 and non-FCO-1 tools.
 Perform Air calibration successfully
 Perform correctly the Magnet Test and be able to identify it on the LQC log.
 Perform correctly the Squash Test and be able to identify it on the LQC log.

D. Section 3.4. Service Specific Rig Up

Discuss the importance of rigging up the tool vertically in order to damage and the need to ensure
correct tool orientation if FCO-1 is not installed on the tool.

E. Section 3.5. Rig Floor Operational Check

Perform step 1 through 3.

The Assessor must ensure that the assesse:

 Check the basic gauges and signals with the Data Gauge Viewer
 Perform the “EMIT-A: Pre-Log Synchro Tests

F. Section 3.6. Run In Hole

This section is about tool specific RIH procedures and when to turn EMIT transmitter ON. Follow
the steps 1 through 7.

G. Section 3.7. Downhole Operations

This section is about how to operate the tool down hole, and starting the transmitter sequences.
Perform the steps 1 through 18

The Assessor must ensure that the assesse:

 Use tool planner to set EMIT parameters
 Perform Pre-Log Synchro Test after changing the transmitter frequency

H. Section 3.8. Log Quality Control

In this section a previously selected log has to be discussed with the assesse and to be used to
LQC the log

The Assessor must ensure that the assesse:

 Explain tool behavior
 Explain all the tracks on the LQC log
 Able to QC the log and with quantities identify whether the tool response in repeat pass is
within tolerance. Any deviation should be explained.
 Explain pad sensor behavior and which to disallow in the parameter’s tab.
 Select best section of the log to change SGMA parameter

I. Section 3.9. Pull Out Of Hole

Discuss about safe method of Pull Out of hole the tool safely, following all the winch operations
placard.

The Assessor must ensure that the assesse:

 Turn off the Transmitter power
 Include the minimum required remarks in the final deliverables.

J. Section 3.10. Rig Floor Post Job Operations

Discuss about rig down and sequence of the tool with regards to WHE (if any).

The Assessor must ensure that the assesse:

 Thoroughly wipe the excess debris from the EMIT “Cage” before collapsing to prevent wire
damage

K. Section 3.11. Service Specific Rig Down

This section to cover the complete rig down specific to the tool

The assessor must ensure that the assesse:

 Vertically rig down the tool string

L. Section 3.12. Wellsite Product Generation

This section to Discuss about LSOP for the specific service.

The Assessor must ensure that the assesse:

 Knows and understands the local client log delivery format, scales and time frame

M. Section 3.13. Transportation and Storage

The Assessor must ensure that the assesse:

 Put EMIS and EMMS in its transportation sleeve and gently tighten the screws
