Q1:- Solve (𝒙𝟐 + 𝟏)𝒚′ = 𝒙𝒚, 𝒚(𝟎) = 𝟐 analytically then get the first two
steps using Euler method with 𝒉 = 𝟎. 𝟏 and their errors.

Q2:- Verify that 𝒚 = 𝒄𝟏 𝒆𝟐𝒙 + 𝒄𝟐 𝒆𝟓𝒙 + 𝟔𝒆𝒙 is the general solutions of 𝒚′′ −
𝟕𝒚′ + 𝟏𝟎𝒚 = 𝟐𝟒𝒆𝒙 .

Q3:- Use Matlab program to sketch the solution of the DE in the interval
𝒙 ∈ [𝟎, 𝟑] with 𝒉 = 𝟎. 𝟎𝟓 given by 𝒚′ = 𝒔𝒊𝒏(𝒙) + 𝒄𝒐𝒔(𝒚), 𝒚(𝟎) = 𝟎. 𝟓.

Q4:- Given that 𝒚 = 𝒄𝟏 + 𝒄𝟐 𝒙𝟐 is, a two-parameter family of solutions of

𝒙𝒚′′ − 𝒚′ = 𝟎 on the interval (−∞ , ∞ ), show that constants 𝒄𝟏 and 𝒄𝟐
cannot be found so that a member of the family satisfies the initial
conditions 𝒚(𝟎) = 𝟎, 𝒚′ (𝟎) = 𝟏.

Q5:- Determine whether a member of the family 𝒚 = 𝒄𝟏 𝒆𝒙 𝒄𝒐𝒔𝒙 +

𝒄𝟐 𝒆𝒙 𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒙 can be found that satisfies the boundary conditions.

ii. 𝒚(𝟎) = 𝟏, 𝒚(𝝅) = −𝟏
𝝅
iii. 𝒚(𝟎) = 𝟏, 𝒚 ( ) = 𝟏

iv. 𝒚(𝟎) = 𝟎, 𝒚(𝝅) = 𝟎

Q6:- Determine whether a member of the family 𝒚 = 𝒄𝟏 𝒙𝟐 + 𝒄𝟐 𝒙𝟒 + 𝟑 can

be found that satisfies the boundary conditions.
i. 𝒚(𝟎) = 𝟐, 𝒚(𝟏) = 𝟕
ii. 𝒚(𝟎) = 𝟑, 𝒚(𝟏) = 𝟓
iii. 𝒚(−𝟏) = 𝟏, 𝒚(𝟏) = 𝟔
