Statement of Interest

Legislative drafting is an art of expressing in concise and articulative language the ideas of
other people. It is the collective ideas of heterogeneous people that express the intent of
legislature. The significant role of the draftsman in order to compile the various
recommendations and demands of the legislation is quite unique as well as challenging too.
The raw legislation passes through several scrutiny and channels that ultimately refines it as a
tool of societal change. The entire process of legislative drafting demands several specialities
and techniques to construct a base on which the whole structure lies.

As a student of Law, Legislative drafting would enable me to hold the strong grasp over the
subject matter and its precedents. Furthermore, it would also sharp my ideas, language of
expression and articulation of the provisions inserted in legislation. It would also an excellent
opportunity for me to build a constructive approach of writing and editing legislative texts that
would surely master me in my future pursuits and endeavours. The critically drafted and
perfectly designed legislation itself clarifies several facets of social evils and contradictions.

Thus, I want to have in-depth knowledge of Legislative drafting and certainly believes that the
internship at ILDR, Legislative Department, Ministry of Law & Justice would enable me to
avail this wonderful opportunity.
