PREPOSITIONS OF MOVEMENT

 What are prepositions of movement? Prepositions of movement or direction are


used to show movement from one place to another. These prepositions are most
often used with verbs of motion and are found after the verb.

TOWARD(S)
The preposition towards is used to say that
someone or something moves, looks, faces in the
direction of someone or something.
Examples:

1. The sky got brighter as they drove toward the


city

2. At last she could recognize the person coming


towards her

THROUGH

The preposition through is used when we talk


about movement from one side to another but “in
something”, such as long grass or a forest.

Examples:

1. The bullet Ben shot went through the window.


2. The train passes through the tunnel.
INTO OVER
