Quarantine Interview

Responder :
In this assignment, I interview my mother who is a housewife. Her name is duan. She’s
in her early 50s.On her daily basis, she cooks for the family, keeps the house tidy, takes
care of my grandmother, and helps family members on their problem.

Questions :
1. What did you do during quarantine?
Ans. As a housewife, my days in quarantine are similar to the normal situation. I
continue to do my normal task of taking care of the family’s needs and my own.
However, I have more time when family members are not in a rush. For example,
I have to wake up early before anyone to cook for my daughters and husband.
Now that no one has to work outside of the house, I can wake up a little later than
before.

2. Who do you spend your time with? / who are you staying with during
quarantine?
Ans. I live with my husband, mother in law, and my two daughters. On the other
hand, I mostly only spend time with my husband. My daughters have online
classes also they want to spend the time like a typical teenager.

3. What activity do you enjoy the most?

Ans. Ever since the quarantine, my daughters introduced me to Netflix. I have
been watching some of the movies and series using it and I really enjoy it.

4. How often do you leave your house?

Ans. I leave my house for about one day per week. I try to minimize the trip as
possible. We have a senior in our house and I am very concerned I will bring the
disease home. I usually go out for grocery and medicine for my mother in law.

5. Does quarantine improve our sleeping time? If so how much more do you sleep?
Ans. Since the quarantine, I have more time to sleep. I don’t have to wake up so
early to cook and I don’t have to wait for my husband to come home late at night.
So, I would say that I have about two to three hours more than I normally would.
6. How often do you use delivery services?
Ans. In the period of 55 days, our family used a food delivery twice. I don’t really
encourage the food delivery system during this time because I don’t know how
sanitary it is. On the other hand, I have been ordering some utility around the
house. For our safety, I leave the package for 2 days according to the research
that the virus can survive on the surface without a host for 48 hours.

7. Does quarantine affect your job?/ Any change in your revenue?

Ans. The quarantine does not affect my job. I am a housewife and the revenue
mainly comes from my husband.

8. How does quarantine affect your relationship with your family?

Ans. For our family, the quarantine actually brings us closer because we are
basically stuck together. But I have a hard time connecting with my parents. They
lived with my sister in the city. I can’t visit them because I might be contagious. I
have called them several times but it can’t compare meeting on face to face.

9. Does quarantine affect your education?

Ans. I have graduated from my university for twenty-nine years now. The
quarantine does not affect my education.

10. Did you go back to your hometown?

Ans. I have not to go back to my home town. Some of the provinces in Thailand
do not allow an outsider to enter. I don’t know if my home town’s border is close
but I have n intention to go back there.

11. Were you able to get yourself masks and alcohol?

Ans. I have gathered the necessary protection way before the quarantine and
before Thailand has more than a thousand COVID-19 patients. I have tried to
find more masks but I see people lacking them so I stop because our family has
some.

12. How are you keeping yourself safe during this breakout? / What do you do in
order to protect yourself from COVID 19?
Ans. For my own safety, I don’t go out of my house unless it is necessary. When I
go out, I always wear a mask and wash my hand as often as possible. If I have
order a package online, I make sure that it is clean and safe before it enters the
house.
13. Do you think “Social Distancing” is an effective way to stop the spread of COVID
19? How?
Ans. I think that both the social distancing and the work from home are a very
effective solution to decrease or stop the spread of the virus. Being apart from
other people will minimize the chance of the virus to infect other people.

14. What do you think makes the COVID 19 spread quickly?

Ans. I personally don’t know anyone that got infected with the disease.

19. If you got infected, what would you do?

Ans. Firstly, I will part myself from my family. Then, I will call the hospital to do
the right protocol. Lastly, I will tell my family to get themselves tested.
