1. Did Covid-19 change your life as a student? How? And what are your tips to cope and survive?
As a student, the pandemic covid-19 changed my life in so many ways. At first,
fear and anxiety about this disease overwhelmed me and strong different emotions arose. Fear and worry about my own health and the health of my loved ones especially my children since I am also a father. Hearing about the pandemic repeatedly on news and social media upset me. I am worried on my schooling since our school just entered second semester and I am currently on my Third Year. When the national and local government announced that entire Luzon will be under enhanced community quarantine it seems that I can do nothing but to stay at home. Among many others schools, our school is temporarily cancelling their face-to-face classes to deal with the impact of the COVID-19 situation. From that I anticipated that we will undergo online classes. Staying at home is not that easy thing to handle at first since I am a busy person. From that time I already knew that my life/my family’s life would never be the same before. So I began to wonder about the impact such transitions will have on me emotionally, psychologically and even physically. To cope with this, first I never questioned the authorities with the implementation and cooperated wholeheartedly even though there is really fear on me, I need to be optimistic for me and for my family. I, together with my family stayed at home. I am the one who go outside to buy necessities following strict social distancing and wearing face mask. The rest of the day, we are enjoying every moment; we planted vegetables on our backyard, I helped my wife in household chores, and take this opportunity to clean and disinfect our house and most of all I love to take care of my children. We are still watching TV and keep updating on news and praying together for the health experts to finally invent the vaccine to fight this covid-19 virus. I keep chatting with my classmates for any homework to do online. The use of social media like facebook messenger is such a big help for me to contact my loved ones who are far away from us and to know whether they are fine. The tips to handle a situation like this are not planned by anyone. We all know that this is global pandemic, all I can give is prayer to our front liners and to our government who are doing all their best to fight this pandemic while we are at home, we must be positive but of course don’t be too shy to express your worries to your family, this will lessen your anxiety. Try to focus on small things around you and be productive even you just stayed at home. Enjoy the moments with your loved ones and friends at home. Of course secure your health, if you feel uncertain with your health call a doctor. Little by little as of now we tend to adapt to the so called “New Normal”. Now that the quarantine will be uplift by May 31, always make sure that you will observe social distancing and wearing facemask every time you go outside. Lastly, this is just temporary but the lesson I learned from this situation must be bear on our minds and hearts.
