My Life During Covid-19 Pandemic

In March of 2020, the entire world completely changed when the Coronavirus
pandemic hit. Since then, we have all been staying at home, wearing masks
in public places, and trying to stay at least six feet away from other people in
order to protect ourselves and the entire community. It has not been easy for
everyone, including me, not just because the pandemic occurred at an
unprecedented rate, but because of the fear that we have to face every day.
There are obvious differences between my life before Covid-19 pandemic and
my life during Covid-19 pandemic now.

My studies during the Covid-19 pandemic is more challenging than

before the pandemic. Online class proves to be more challenging for me than
face-to-face class, because I am more exposed to distractions than in face-to-
face classes. If not handled properly, this situation can affect my focus on my
studies and possibly even worsen my academic results in the long run. This is
because, in the comfort of home, students are more likely to send text
messages, chat on Facebook or WhatsApp, watch videos on YouTube, surf
on Google, play video games or listen to music while taking an online course,
compared to a teacher-supervised class as before. I worry that if I am not
discipline, this can pull my attention away from the task at hand and diminish
my productivity.

The Covid-19 pandemic has changed my daily life to some extent as I

am stuck in my house, like many others, during the lockdown. The Prime
Minister of our country has requested that people isolate themselves and stay
at home. Schools, colleges, universities, and even offices are closed. For me,
this situation has its positives and its negatives. Positives including being with
my family. I really love my family so if I have to be stuck inside with anybody,
I’m sure glad it’s them. If before, studying in campus will inevitably cause me
to meet my family rarely and spend less time with them, but now that I study
at home, I can spend quality time with them more. My four white walls
surround me. I am trapped both by the constraints of my house and usually

spend time with technology, and this sometimes can suffocate me a little from
time to time.

My mental health is also affected during this period. I am stressed more

usually compared to before and sometimes, I get anxious. I also begin to have
trouble sleeping. During this pandemic, many people reported feeling more
agitated, more stressed, more restless, and more sleepless. At the start of the
pandemic, I do not feel the negative effects yet. Gradually, the mental effects
of lockdown did not fail to appear in me. Thankfully, now, I have learned to
adapt myself and know how to properly maintain or take care of my mental
health, so that there are no issues.

In conclusion, even though there is so much uncertainty and change to

deal with, I try to keep myself motivated and engaged. I also had a good time
with my family. I am lucky me and my loved ones are safe and healthy, and I
am grateful to all the hardworking frontliners that sacrificed so much to help us
during this difficult time. I admit that I like my life before the virus more, but it
isn't bad now either.
