MY EXPERIENCE ABOUT GETTING VACCINATED

"Sacrifices comes before success." I never realized this saying until I experienced it. Back to
my 10 years of age, I was in 5th grade that time when I heard the news that there was a
disease spreading throughout the world, the COVID-19. At first, I was so curious and
innocent like "what is happening?" I suddenly thought. Few days passed, the news
announced that the class was suspended for 2 weeks because of the COVID-19. I was so
happy because I thought it was just for a short vacation. But, a few days passed, more than
two weeks, the class was still suspended. My happiness turned into sadness, my world
suddenly stopped when I realized that the face to face classes ended.
The COVID-19 is the most terrifying enemy of the world because we can't see it with our
naked eye. It enters our body on its own when you are in contact with someone who is
infected with this disease. That's why safety protocols implemented during the pandemic.
Scientists also made a vaccine to cure people who is infected and to reduce the COVID-19
cases.
With the amount of misinformation that has spread around the world about covid-19, it
cannot be denied that many people believed and were blinded by its misconception. Last 2
years ago, I got vaccinated. At first, my mom was hesitant about that because of the fake
news but she took the risk. I was also afraid during those times but I prayed to God. My
mom and I believed that the vaccine against covid-19 will be effective. Because of the
hardships we went through before, who wants to stay in the complicated experience we had
before when there was an opportunity to go back where everything was okay? we probably
won't miss this opportunity.
After getting vaccinated, I was feeling normal but the longer it goes on, my arms are getting
heavier and heavier. I can't move my arms. The more I touch my arms, the more it hurts. I
also felt dizziness and headache. However, to relieve those pains, I took medicine and got
some enough rest. Getting vaccinated was hurtful but it will be so worth it at the end
because it can help you to avoid getting infected.
I was so happy when I got vaccinated because I know after all of the difficulties in facing the
pandemic, I finally had the chance to go outside and to go to the school. I know in myself
that I will finally meet my friends and make new one in my school. And finally, the most
awaited time in my life happened, it is to bring back the normal world where the people has
excitement and smile on their faces, where the world is not yet surrounded with fears and
worries.
Going back to the first four words I said in starting this speech, "sacrifices comes before
success." I realized that in every situation, in every action we make, we will always need to
sacrifice. We should be wise in choosing and making one decision. Many people faces their
fears and worries in getting a vaccine just to go back to the normal. Even though they were
very skeptical, they put it aside not only for their own sake but also for the sake of the
majority. And look at us now, after getting vaccinated, after facing those fears, after thinking
negatively, we can now enjoy our life without fear and doubt.
