Hydropower potential represents an important renewable energy source that can contribute to sustainable development. In Romania, small hydropower plants equipped with Banki turbines are an optimal solution for utilizing the hydro potential of small rivers. This paper presents the case study of a small hydropower plant located in the village of Valea Mare, equipped with a Banki turbine with a power of 150 kW. The plant was commissioned in 2008 and has been operating reliably since, providing clean energy to the local community.
