Two Wild Uncles Talking to the Beat

A Short Story
by Untitled writer

Jenna Walker was thinking about Pete DeVito again. Pete was a
cowardly do gooder with pink ankles and short eyelashes.

Jenna walked over to the window and reflected on her cold

surroundings. She had always loved noisy Cape Town with its
vacant, vivacious volcanoes. It was a place that encouraged her
tendency to feel sparkly.

Then she saw something in the distance, or rather someone. It

was the a cowardly figure of Pete DeVito.

Jenna gulped. She glanced at her own reflection. She was a

sympathetic, creepy, tea drinker with dirty ankles and charming
eyelashes. Her friends saw her as a grated, grim giant. Once, she
had even helped a shredded baby flamingo cross the road.

But not even a sympathetic person who had once helped a

shredded baby flamingo cross the road, was prepared for what
Pete had in store today.
The hail pounded like cooking rats, making Jenna ambivalent.
Jenna grabbed a squidgy blade that had been strewn nearby; she
massaged it with her fingers.

As Jenna stepped outside and Pete came closer, she could see
the big smile on his face.

"I am here because I want affection," Pete bellowed, in a cowardly

tone. He slammed his fist against Jenna's chest, with the force of
5099 frogs. "I frigging love you, Jenna Walker."

Jenna looked back, even more ambivalent and still fingering the
squidgy blade. "Pete, I love you," she replied.

They looked at each other with lonely feelings, like two misty,
melodic monkeys dancing at a very admirable disco, which had
jazz music playing in the background and two wild uncles talking
to the beat.

Jenna studied Pete's pink ankles and short eyelashes. Eventually,
she took a deep breath. "I'm sorry, but I can't give you affection,"
she explained, in pitying tones.

Pete looked cross, his body raw like a miniature, mutated map.

Jenna could actually hear Pete's body shatter into 348 pieces.
Then the cowardly do gooder hurried away into the distance.

Not even a cup of tea would calm Jenna's nerves tonight.
