Subject: Supplimentation of advisory recommendation of Ministry of

AYUSH, Govt. of India to prevent COVID-19 in the light of
some new obsevations of US scientists

Sir,

In connection with our earlier letters dt. 27th March and 30th March. 2020, and
on the basis of some new findings of US scientists, and considering the present
emergent need, we would like to draw your kind attention to the following facts:

Till date there is no access to treat COVID-19 positive cases by Homoeopathy

in our country. So it is not possible to suggest any homoeopathic preventive
medicine (Genus epidemicus) following homoeopathic classical approach of
Hahnemann. Even if allowed by Government, it will take some time.
Meanwhile the disease may spread to a larger section of our population as all
the precautionary measures as advised by the Ministry of Health and Family
Welfare, Government of India are not followed properly by some persons.
Under this situation, there is an immediate need to search out some alternative
way to find out some safe homoeopathic medicine (s), which may have the
potential to prevent the disease.

Considering the available symptomatology of the disease from the authentic

sources like WHO, CDC, Chinese report, revised guidelines on clinical
management of COVID-19 published by the Government of India (although
common), pathogenesis of this disease, the present scenario of non- availability
of symptom picture from homoeopathic point of view along with the current
situation of fear and anxiety among the population, the selection of Arsenicum
album 30 from clinical angle as a pathological similar medicine to prevent
COVID-19 by the Scientific Advisory Board of CCRH and thus recommended
by the Ministry of AYUSH , Govt. of India is justified, rational and timely.

Meanwhile a result of some scientific study has published in the light of which
the earlier recommendation as above may be supplemented for better results.

BCG vaccine and COVID-19
The New York Institute of Technology's Department of Biomedical Sciences
conducted an epidemiological study in which the researchers led by Gonzalo
Otazu, Assistant Professor concluded as follows:
"We found that countries without universal policies of BCG vaccination,
such as Italy, the Netherlands, and the United States, have been more
severely affected compared to countries with universal and long-standing
BCG policies"
Epidemiological data thus showed BCG vaccine could be effective against the
novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) (Ref-1). Copy attached.
The researchers at the Murdoch Children's Research Institute are going to
conduct a trial of the Bacillus Calmette–Guerin (BCG) vaccine with 4,000
health care professionals in hospitals around Australia to determine if it can
reduce COVID-19 symptoms (Ref-2). Copy attached.

World Health Organisation (WHO) is reinforcing the international groups to

collaborate with the Australian study led by Nigel Curtis, head of infectious
diseases research, at the Murdoch Children Hospital, the report said.

Homoeopathy, BCG vaccine and Tuberculinum

Tuberculinum is a deep acting constitutional medicine used to treat various
respiratory diseases (and others) including their prevention since long. From
clinical experiences it may be stated that it increases general immunity against
different diseases along with respiratory diseases for a prolonged period. Its
safety and efficacy is proved beyond doubt since its use till date by thousands of
homeopaths all over the world.
The source material for the preparation of BCG and homoeopathic
Tuberculinum is the same, only method of preparation differs.
The Department of Indian Systems of Medicine & Homoeopathy has
successfully implemented the BCT (Belladonna, Calc carb and Tuberculinum in
series) programme against Japanese encephalitis in Andhra Pradesh and Kerala
(1995). Moreover the role of Belladonna in preventing Japanese encephalitis by
immunomodulation is proved experimentally in animal model (Ref-3,4).
So the efficacy of homoeopathic medicines in viral diseases is quite evident
both clinically and in animal model (Ref-3,4,5). The immmunomodulatory
effects of homoeopathic medicines are proved by various research studies (Ref-
6).

Correlating the long clinical use of Tuberculinum in Homoeopathy and the
recent new findings of US scientists in their epidemiological study as stated
earlier, it may be considered that Tuberculinum may have the potentiality to be
useful in COVID-19 cases by boosting up the general immunity of the person.
Proposal 1
Considering the above facts, we propose to supplement the earlier advisory
issued by Ministry of AYUSH in connection with the prevention of COVID-19
by including an additional medicine namely Tuberculinum to be administered
according to following schedule:
a. Arsenicum album 30 - 4 globules to be taken at morning in empty
stomach for three consecutive days (as recommended earlier)
b. After 15 days – Repeat as above
c. Then after 15 days Tuberculinum 200 - 4 globules to be taken at
morning in empty stomach for two consecutive days
Proposal 2
After Arsenicum album, the second indicated medicine appears to be
Phosphorus which may be included and administered as follows:
a. Arsenicum album 30 - 4 globules to be taken at morning in empty
stomach for three consecutive days
b. After 15 days – Phosphorus 30 - 4 globules to be taken at morning in
empty stomach for three consecutive days
c. Then after 15 days Tuberculinum 200 - 4 globules to be taken at
morning in empty stomach for two consecutive days

Some additional general directions essential during taking homoeopathic

medicines needs to be included.
The efficacy of the above interventions may be assessed by giving one group
only Arsenicum album 30 and another group Arsenicum album followed by
Tuberculinum 200 and still another group Arsenicum album, Phosphorus,
Tuberculinum in series. Then the result of these three groups may be compared
statistically.
Similar protocol of Australian study led by Nigel Curtis, Head of infectious
diseases research, at the Murdoch Children Hospital may be followed in this
study with some modifications in the context of Homoeopathy and feasibility in
our country or some new protocol may be developed in this study in
collaboration of related scientific organisations like ICMR, CSIR etc.

In addition, all general precautionary measures as advised by WHO and
Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India to control the spread of
the virus are also to be emphasized in the advisory recommendations.
This proposal may be considered by the Scientific Advisory Committee of
CCRH for finalization on urgent basis.
We also propose to publish a booklet in this regard for uniform and wide
circulation of this information to the professionals and public.
India is the super power in Homoeopathy. The whole world is observing keenly
towards the functioning of Indian homoeopaths in this newly emerging, rapidly
evolving situation. But unfortunately the Government of India till date has not
permitted the homoepathic physicians to treat any COVID-19 positive cases,
even the mild one, which can safely be done with the help of telemedicine
services.
When there is no specific treatment and no vaccine in the modern science for
this deadly disease and when thousands of people are dying globally despite the
best available treatment of modern medicine, even in the developed countries,
then why not to try Homoeopathy, a safe and economic method of treatment
when the professionals of this system would like to assess their potentiality in
treatment and prevention of this deadly disease. At least it will not cause further
harm to the people of our country. We would like to draw your kind attention to
this fact of ground reality.
In the above circumstances, we again humbly pray to your good self to utilize
all the resources, available in homoeopathic system of medicine, both
therapeutic and preventive, in collaboration with the scientists of related fields
and to take immediate steps on urgent basis in this regard to save the people of
our country.
We are confident that we will able to overcome this crisis successfully by our
united efforts and sincerity under your great dynamic and able leadership.
