Take Home Assignment for Performance Module

Respond to any of the two prompts from the four prompts given below. Each response is expected
to be 1000-1500 words.

The responses should be submitted on the following Google Drive Folder: Performance Module
Assignment Folder by 11.59 PM of 4th November 2018.

1. Indiana University adapted the text Madame Bovary in a ballet performance,


choreographed by Jacques Cesborn. The video recording of the performance can be
accessed through the link below. Reflect on what has been achieved/lost in turning the
classic text into a choreographic performance.

2. Record in images or videos ten gestures from daily life (either by the means of
spontaneously recording various daily life actions or by enacting them to the camera). Give
a reflective analysis as to what these gestures mean and why did the person come to use
this gesture.

3. Create a play performance with a partner on the following situation: ‘two strangers have
come to share a PG room, initially they don’t like each other because of difference in their
personalities, but as they spend time together, they come to appreciate each other and
develop a bond’. The performance has to be between five to ten minutes and must use a
song in the act.
After developing the performance, write a short reflective note about the process of
developing the performance. What were the challenges and discovery in evolving this
performance.

4. Write a brief response to the text, ‘Presence’ by Jon Erickson.
