How to upload
Uploading a general submissions

Tap on the + symbol in the bottom navigation.

You’ll be taken to your camera roll. Please select the image(s) you want included in your
new submission and click, Done. You’ll see a status bar as the file(s) are uploaded.
When the upload is finished, you’ll see your photo(s) in the background with a dialog
box prompting you to apply metadata. Choose Ok to add metadata immediately or
Later to add the metadata at another time.

(If you choose Later, you can still edit your submission in the Submissions tab.)

Adding Metadata

Accurate metadata and keywords are critical to customers finding your imagery on
Getty Images and iStock.

If you choose Ok, the first photo will be displayed. Type a Title and an (optional)
Description. You can also update the country or date if necessary.

iStock Exclusive contributors can also nominate their image for Signature+ on this
screen. Tap the box to nominate your image.

The next step is to Add Keywords. Our keyword limits can range from a minimum of
5 to a maximum of 50. Tap on the green Add Keywords button to begin.

You’ll be presented with a list of suggested keywords based on your image title and the
contents of your image. To select an applicable keyword, tap on the keyword and you’ll
see it added to the gray bar at the top of the page.
You can also search for keywords by typing in a word in the gray bar. Results will
display below. Tap on the applicable keywords to add it to your photo.

After you have completed your keywording, click Done and you’ll return to your image.
You’ll see the full list of keywords added to your image.

Non-English contributors: you can still take advantage of our suggested keywords
because it recommends keywords based off the image. To further improve the
suggestions, please use our title translator tool.

Tap on the [EN] button to the right of your title. The app will translate your title into
English and suggest keywords in your language based off the English translation.
Releases

You're required to provide a model or property release and time your imagery features
a recognizable person or property

If you need to add releases, click on Manage Releases within the app to begin. From
here, you'll click on the green + symbol.

(Note: you can download model and property releases.)

Name the release and select enter. It’s best practice to name the release with
something identifiable so you can reuse the same release later if needed.
Choose the release type, property, or model. Model releases require the model’s date
of birth (DOB).

Choose the date of birth if it's a model release and tap Confirm.
Choose a location where the release is stored—either Camera Roll or Documents. You
can import a release from the file system on Android devices, or from a cloud service
like Dropbox or iCloud on iOS. Contributor by Getty Images will accept a photo of an
executed paper release or a PDF.

Once the release is successfully uploaded, you can attach additional releases by tapping
the green + symbol. When you have uploaded all of your releases, tap Done and the
app will go to the next photo in your submission.

Progress through the rest of your photos, editing as needed.

When you have completed the metadata edits for each photo and have reached the
last photo, hit Save & Finish. You’ll be asked if you want to submit all your photos
now or wait until a later time. Hit Yes to submit your submission.

You’ll now see your submissions in a list showing Status: Submitted. Click on the My
Photos tab to see the status of your submission.

To learn more about keywording review our FAQs and review our Keywording Guide.

Uploading to briefs

If you want to submit content for a brief, go to the Briefs icon and tap a brief to open
it.

For each brief, you’ll see the title, example images, a description of the brief, and the
submission deadline.

After you’ve opened a brief, read the requirements and review the example images.
Some briefs will display Editor’s Favorites, which highlights images liked by our creative
teams.

Depending on the brief, you’ll see an Add Photos button or the option that allows you
to choose if you’re interested in submitting to a brief. Once you choose “Interested”,
the Add Photos button appears.

Begin your submission directly from the brief by selecting, Add Photos. Briefs you
mark as “Interested” also appear in a separate tab under BRIEFS.

Starting a submission from other apps

If you store images on Dropbox, Google Drive, or somewhere other than on your
phone’s camera roll, or if you use other apps for editing, you can begin a Submission

these steps:

supports sharing
Tap the Contributor by Getty Images icon (if you don’t see it, choose “More”,
