WEEK 1 | SEMESTER 1/20192020 | VOLUME 1.2
ISSUES CONSIDERED IMPLICATION FOR DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION & OCCUPATION
E&CDE Internal and external The use of energy efficient light fittings and timersautomated swithching
lighting systems should be considered and included.
Drying space Provision of dedicated drying space reduces the need for mechanical
drying of clothes.
Low or zero carbon The inclusion of facilities for exploitation of renewable energy sources such
energy technologies as solar panel, wind turbines and others.
P Global warming The use of insulation materials that do not produce ozone depleting gases
Nitrous oxide emissions Careful specification of heating and other systems to reduce nitrous oxide
emissions to the atmosphere.
WE Internal potable water Use of low cisterns and if appropriate, use of grey water for some uses
External potable water The collection of rainwater for vegetations etc.
MU Environmental impact Eco-labelling schemes by considering the extent of embodied energy
within construction materials.
Responsible sourcing Spec and ordering of materials from sustainable practice throughout the
supply chain.
