Change over procedure from HFO to MGO

1. Check that Oil present in the Gas oil tank. Open the valve which connect gas oil tank to the oil
system.
2. Ensure all the valves on pump unit as well as the quick closing valve on pump pressure side are
opened.
3. If the boilers are in auto mode, change it to manual mode and stop the boiler.
4. Do the oil change over by the selecting the three ways valve in to MGO position.
5. Then the automatic flushing sequence will be initiated. This time
An indication “FLUSHING” will be appeared on the ECR PC screen
6. Close the steam tracing line for boiler fuel oil system.
7. Close the steam to fuel oil heaters if necessary.
8. After the flushing sequence, “FLUSHING” indication will be disappeared
9. NOW the boiler is ready to fire on MGO.

Details of automatic flushing sequence from HFO to MGO

1. During HFO operation, the status of pump and valves are,
a. One of the pump is running
b. Fuel oil temperature control is ON
c. Automatic 3 way Valves(G111 & G439) in Mixing tube direction
d. Automatic 3 way valve (G439) in FO tank direction
e. Fuel oil indication on ECR monitor is HFO
f. Digital input DI 02( refer electrical diagram/power panel / sheet 43) active
g. Digital input DI 01(refer electrical diagram/power panel / sheet 43) off.

d. On the centre of the screen an indication “FLUSHING/wait valves” will be displayed.
This time valve G111 and G437 will be turned to Tank direction. Oil flow will be maintained in stand by
level and temperature control will be disabled
e. Timer 5 will be initiated and the indication on the screen will be changed to “FLUSHING/ Wait Timer.
f. When Timer 5 is over and the temperature not dropped below set point, Indication on screen will be

Timer 5(this set point can be accessed in boiler configuration/main configuration/Flush set. HFO/MGO
temp), this indication will not be displayed.
G. After Timer 5 or reaching temperature (which ever is last), Fuel oil flow will be increased to flush set
point ((this set point can be accessed in boiler configuration/main configuration/Flush set. Set point flush).
h. When fuel oil flow will be reached to the set point, TIMER 7 will be initiated.
I. when Timer 7 is over G 437 will be turned to mixing tube position and TIMER 4 will be initiated.
J. when Timer 4 is over G 437 will be turned to tank position and TIMER 7 will be initiated again.
K. when Timer 7 is over, pump will be stopped and valve G 439 will be turned to MGO tank position.
l. “FLUSHING” indications will be disappeared from screen.
m. Boilers will show ready status and it is ready to fore on MGO.

Note:

1. Flush timer settings ( Timer 2,4,5,7) can be accessed in boiler configuration/timer/power panel 1
2. When perform a fuel change over, confirm boilers are not running and manual/ stopped mode is
selected
3. Do not try to start boilers during flushing sequence.
