TOPIC / LESSON NAME Bioenergetics

CONTENT STANDARDS The learner demonstrates understanding of the cell as the basic unit of life.

PERFORMANCE The learners shall be able to make a poster that shows the complementary relationship of photosynthesis and
STANDARDS cellular respiration.

LEARNING COMPETENCIES The learners explain how cells carry out functions required to life.

SPECIFIC LEARNING At the end of the lesson, the learner:

OUTCOMES 1. differentiate unicellular organism from multicellular
2. distinguish the function of cell organelles
3. appreciate the value of cell organelles in carrying out functions required for life
4. make a poster that shows the structure of cell organelles.

PROCEDURE MEETING LEARNERS’

NEEDS

INTRODUCTION
1. Review the previous topic about the unifying themes in the study of life.
2. Give an example of living organisms that undergo cellular respiration.

MOTIVATION
Student will have to watch the video:
Structure and function // what is cell and its function?
Source: https:www.youtube.com/user/learning

Follow up questions:
1. what makes up your body?
2. what makes you different from a bacterium?

INSTRUCTION/DELIVERY
Round table: Students will be divided into four groups. Every group will discuss the function of cell
organelles based on its given nickname.

Follow up question:
1. How important the cell is in carrying out function required for life?

PRACTICE
Each group will make a poster illustrating its labelled organelles.

Rubrics:
ENRICHMENT
Student will be asked:
How important the cell is in carrying out function required for life?
(based on the prior tasks that has been done.)

EVALUATION
Students will be given one minute to undergo “think-pair-share”. Each pair will summarize the discussion
and integrate it to a new information.
