Key Concepts From Cells to Organism
At the end of this lesson, the students are expected to:
a. identify the different parts of a cell and its functions,
I. LEARNING OBJECTIVES b. compare and contrast plant and animal cells; and
c. explain why the cell is considered the basic structural and functional unit of
all organisms.

III. LEARNING
PROCEDURES
A. Preliminary Activities
 The teacher will ask about the previous topic.
What are different levels of biological organization from cell to biosphere?
1. Review
 Organelle, cells, tissues, organs, organ systems, organisms,
populations, communities, ecosystem, and biosphere.

2. Motivation  The teacher will begin the lesson by asking students what they know
about cells and their functions.
1. What is cells?
2. What is the primary function of chloroplasts in plant cells?
3. Which organelle in plant cells is responsible for storing water,
nutrients, and waste?
4. Provide at least 3 parts of the animal cells and plant cells?
 Afterwards, the teacher will introduce the topic of plant and animal
cells, explaining that cells are the basic building blocks of all living
organisms; and
 Share the learning objectives with students and discuss their
importance in understanding the structure and function of living
things.
B. Developmental Activities
1. Activity Group 1.
Cell Model Construction
 The group will provide with materials such as playdough, different
colors of clay, toothpicks, and small labels.
 Afterwards, the teacher will instruct students to create a model of a
plant and an animal cell using the materials provided,
 Encourage students to be creative and label the different organelles of
the cells.
 Once the models are complete, the group will present their models to
the class, explaining the function of each organelle.
