Learning Resources

A teacher’s main purpose is to help learners to learn. Learning resources are meant to help
communicate information. Learning resources are required for effective teaching of subject. They
help the teachers to communicate with the learners in more effective and desirable way. They
help the teacher to in achieving the objectives efficiently and effectively. They provide a sensory
experience by which intellectual aspect of the learners are developed. They help in bringing
concept in front of the learners clearly and precisely. Use of Learning resources brings the variety
in instruction making teaching-learning process interactive. They serve many roles in
instructions. The most common use of the Learning resources in instructional situations is to
support the teachers for effective teaching. This is why Learning resources are also called
instructional aids or instructional materials. Most of the Learning resources are sensory and their
functions are to make teaching concrete, effective and interesting.

They help the teachers to clarify, establish and coordinate accurate concepts and enable them to
make teaching-learning more concrete and effective. Learning resources are the tools that
teachers use them in the classroom and also help learners to improve reading and other skills.
Learning resources are those materials which are helpful in improving the quality of teaching-
learning process. Learning resources are devices or procedures that help to make learning more
interesting and more effective. These resources help in completing the triangular process of
learning, viz. motivation, classification and simulation.

Learning resources are the devices presenting the content knowledge through auditory or visual
stimulus and responses or both to help learning efficiently. They serve as stimuli to learning, help
in better understanding of the concept and realization of the objectives of teaching. They provide
significant aims in informational learning, retention, recall, thinking, reasoning and personal
growth and development. Therefore, we can say that, Learning resources are those devices which
can be used to make the learning more concrete, more realistic and more dynamic.
 According to Kinder S. James, “Learning resources are any device which can be used to
make the learning experience more concrete, more realistic and more dynamic.”
 According to Dent, “Learning resources refer to all materials used in the classroom or in
other teaching situations to facilitate the understanding of the written and spoken word.”
Purposes of using Learning Resources:

 To increase the skills of the teachers to conduct teaching-learning process efficiently.

 To always active the learners in the classroom.
 To help the learners according to their abilities.
 To develop the mechanism of lesson plan.
 To create interest about the subject matter among the learners.
 To make the learners a good observer.
 To supplement and enrich teachers own teaching to make teaching-learning more
concrete.
 To serve an instructional role in itself. ·
 To make teaching as an effective process.
 To accelerate learner-centered learning.
 To represent the subject matter in easy, simple and attractive way.
 To help learners to develop the abilities of imagination.
 To impart practical knowledge.
 To increase the capacity of the learners.

Characteristics of Learning Resources:

 Learning resource splay an important role in teaching-learning process.
 They lead the teaching-learning process in right direction.
 They always based on the subject matter.
 They always prepared according to the level of the learners.
 They are accurate and realistic.
 They create readiness for learning experience in a learner.
 They can meet individual demands.
