• The central government on Wednesday allowed states to bring back hundreds of

thousands of migrant workers, students and pilgrims who have been stranded across
the country since the nationwide lockdown. The Union government listed the
guidelines that states will have to follow to arrange interstate transport for those
stranded while ensuring that social distancing measures are maintained, only those
who are asymptomatic can be sent back, and upon returning, all the evacuees will be
kept in home quarantines and if needed institutional quarantines.

• Children missing out on life-saving vaccines could lead to a resurgence of potentially
fatal diseases, such as childhood pneumonias, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, hepatitis
B and diarrhoea, among others, which threaten to reverse the gains India has made by
immunising children against vaccine-preventing illnesses. Many states in India have
halted immunisation activities because of the national lockdown and community
health workers are being asked to help with Covid-19 surveillance. (S.no.5)
